Today was awesome, and much needed after a serious…

Today was awesome, and much needed after a serious allergic reaction yesterday that sent me home from the office to inject myself with an eppi-pen and Benadryl, which knocks me unconscious completely. Seriously, I cannot eat anything without running the risk of a Crohn’s attack or an allergic reaction. This is getting ridiculous. I can’t stand it anymore. When did food become such a gambling risk? One that I am loosing (and badly).

Anyway, today, I went shopping, I bought JCH a new Nintendo DS dark, then, I cleaned my whole house.

I have come to the realization I cannot write, if my house is messy, or if there is anything “in the way” (like chores) without rushing through a paragraph, because I am so distracted by all the things that “need to be done.” I have learned it is best for me to write after everything else has been taken care of. I wish I could make writing my one and only priority, but single handedly running a household often comes in-between what I’d rather be doing.

This afternoon I got to spend some quality parental time before they leave for Florida. Since my mom and dads washing machine broke, and they have no time to buy a new one or fix the broken one before they have to leave at 415 am in the morning… they came to my house to do their laundry in my machine! (After all those years of doing laundry at their house!) 5 years ago, they never would have been able to come to my house to do anything, let alone visit. I had one of those moments when I realize how far I have come over the last few years. Sometimes I forget I have accomplished anything, I get sucked into going through the motions: get up, go to work, pay bills, dust… I loose sight of where I was, how I have grown-up, and where I am today.

BYE MOM AND DAD… HAVE A SAFE / FUN VACATION…

Then, my brother Adam called with great news. He graduated from college this summer, with a 4.0 and a handsome degree in education. He had a rough go of finding a job at first. In October, he was offered a temporary position while someone was out on maternity leave. Fortunately, he was offered another job, from another school, but the school where he has been working wanted to keep him. (Duh! He rocks!) So, they offered him full time through June!!!! The first thing his wife Traci did was shop! Good for them, they deserve it! I am soooo proud of my little brother. He has worked so hard. It is nice to see him grow in to such a smart, funny, wonderful man. I love you broham!

GO BROHAM / GO TRACI!!!!

In other “news” Evelyn’s attempts at keeping Ron in the dark about where she will be spending Thanksgiving have been thwarted. I received a phone call today, from a typically angry EV, informing me that when she called Lee (my other brother) to find out how baby Jackson is doing, she told Lee what her plans for Thanksgiving were, NOT KNOWING that Ron was there and overheard the whole thing. She called me explicitly to express how pissed off she was, that my mother and father wont be feeling guilty, thinking she is wandering the streets alone. (She is the ultimate inspiration, or, example for doing things solely out of spite.) She cracks me up.

This is a picture of a “WOULD-BE HAPPY” EV (if…… she was able to pull of guilt-ing mom and dad)

There have also been new additions to the Lets YEBEN re-DO IT post see under the comments section for “groan-lyrics.”

Tonight is movie night with my son, and I get to watch my favorite children’s movie of all times… Monsters Inc. and I will catch up, spend time, make phone calls, email and IM with friends.

Now for tomorrow….all the chores have been completed, mom and dad will be gone, JCH will be occupied with new electronics and games, and I will have upheld all obligations to family, friends, and household….I can, and I will, write all damn day tomorrow. I will not cook. I will not clean. I will not answer my phone, or talk to anyone. I will not IM. I will not even shower, ‘til after I have completed CHAPTER THREE.

(But, I’m sure I’ll find time to post!)

Happy Thanks-Taking A Vacation!

Every year, my mother and father host Thanksgiving. It is one of the few times a year my family all gets together to joke, laugh, make fun of each other and we get that moment when we get share our lives that are sometimes very disconnected. Plus, we all get to enjoy Ron-Gourmet meal unlike any other. This year, my mother and father have decided to take a vacation, during the week of Thanksgiving, and go to Florida for the holiday, thus, disbanding my entire family.

Umm…. Huh? What am I supposed to do? (One of my other “charming” qualities is my sick addiction to my parents. I talk to my mother easily 5 times a day and I work with my father so I see him 8 hours a day every day.  Oh, and I live in the same complex, on the same street as them, o.o miles from their house). So… Obviously I was not happy with the “We aren’t having Thanksgiving, we are going to Florida” announcement. But, I would have to adjust. Right?

I thought I was the only one in my family that was upset about the no traditional family thanksgiving. I mean, My brother Adam and his wife Traci have her family to attend to. My other brother Lee and his wife Maya have her family to attend to. They both live in PA so they wont have to deal with the traffic either to get to my mom and dads, so, they are pretty much content with this years arrangements.

But, I am single, with a 10 year old boy JCH and my 86-year-old grandfather Sye (on my moms side). I was planning on taking the two of them to my uncle Victor’s  house for the great Italian feast, but, regrettably, my grandfather does not want to partake.

That’s when the sudden panic attack hit me. I can’t leave grandpa alone to go to Uncle Vic’s. Mom and Dad will be in FLA it’s my job to take care of grand-pa while they are away! What if he was all alone on Thanksgiving? And what if he DIED? What if this is his last Thanksgiving and no one was with him? Hell no! I have to be with grandpa on Thanksgiving

Now, how do I make someone MORE stubborn than ME agree to spend the day with someone AS stubborn as me?

Then, I found out, I am not alone in the “What the f*ck is wrong with you guys for leaving us on the holiday” tude.

My grandmother EV (on my fathers side) is soooo pissed off that my parents have decided to forego the Thanksgiving season she has refused to divulge any information to my parents about where she WILL be spending the holiday.

For those of you that  know my Gramma Ev, you will get how funny this IS, for those of you that don’t know Ev, imagine a very angry, hostile, 4 foot tall, gravely voice (like shes been smoking since birth) 82 year old Italian woman who has dedicated her life to family functions and cooking. Or, jut look at her picture, it says it all about her personality. Or just watch THESE videos.

My dad went to visit Gramma Ev, to check on her as she hasn’t been feeling well at all lately. My father asked in normal conversation, “So, mom, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?”

(this was her reply, and it is the best answer I ever heard…)

“What’s the difference? YOU WONT BE HERE! You don’t give a f*ck. It’s none of your business. I’m not telling you sh*t,”

Rock on EV.

ROCK ON!

OH… AND, THIS IS HOW WE ENDED UP CELEBRATING THANKSGIVING.

what the hell? is that? a camera?

This camera was recently discovered under a friend’s bed….

She thought it was a GUN.

See CASING:

The same camera that could have been used back when the idea of FAKETVSHOW was still around….

The same camera that would have made a GREAT 80’s dad figure….

For all school / sporting events.

Of course the owner of the camera would have had to purchase extra tickets for seating at school events, i.e.: drama club plays or soccer tournaments.

The same camera and owner could have even made copies of all the videos and sold them to the less fortunate parents.

However, it seems to have been through two decades unused.

Good call, Cornflake.

Lets YEBEN re-DO It!

My mother created these new and amazing cartoons / characters specifically for children ages 1-7. The YEBENS. See HERE to learn about what they are

She has slaved over the website and the store for months now.

My girlfriend wanted to be the first person, ever, to place an order, to the YEBEN STORE for CD’s T-shirts and other YEBEN accessories.

HOWEVER, after 15 attempts and $900.00 later, there was never an order completed correctly. Eventually my mother had to return all of my girlfriend’s money and shut the store down all together until she can fix the problem. (Thankfully she has a team of tech people assisting her as she has the same lack of patience need for instant gratification problem that I have)

This is the ORIGINAL YEBEN SONG

Excerpt of lyrics:

Let’s YEBEN DO IT!
Were gunna make it all the way
Lets YEBEN DO IT!
Its time for all of us to say,
You’ve gotta hold onto that belief inside of you
Lets YEBEN DO it….
Right now!

But, with all the drama with the failed shopping attempts, my girlfriend and I have come up with some new lyrics. Maybe my mother can use them as a default song / message for the customers when / if another order gets f*cked up??

Lets YEBEN re-DO IT
Were gunna make this purchase some how
Lets YEBEN re-DO IT
Ill just re-order everything right now
You’ve gotta hold onto your receipt as proof
Lets YEBEN re-DO IT
Right Now!

Just think about it mom!!

Well well another Monday gone by

Well well another Monday gone by (why do Mondays go SOO FAST?)

I didn’t have anything to write about today, but for some reason I feel I HAVE TO write something. For two reasons:

1. It is national writing month, I am supposed to challenge my writing skills this month, force myself to write even if I have nothing to say…. and 2. I noticed (after scrolling through some of this blog) I post everyday (except Saturday’s).

So… I was sitting on my sofa, scraping for ideas to write about on this very wet and rainy day, when, I noticed something. Whenever it rains, my LEFT leg gets wet, and my RIGHT leg always stays dry. I have no explanation and no idea as to why that is.

And I learned two new things today.

1.It is NORAML when I am on my cordless phone to kick me off my wireless internet connection (via Apple Pro Care employee / technician) 2. When you have to perform a power reboot (disconnect all wires from all modems, computers and airports) and WAIT a full three minutes… it is an incredibly long time for someone with as little patience as me.

That being said, I also wanted to say I have resolved the “book issue” I am free to write as I once did, and so loved to do so.
Thank you to all my friends for comments / emails. I remember WHO and WHY and WHAT I am writing for.
