  1. Oh I love that grand piano!

  2. That’s really cool.  I wonder if anyone plays it.  Is it a real piano?

  3. I’ve never thought of hanging a piano on the wall. To be honest, I’ve also not thought of hanging a piano on anything, or taking it to bed for a shnuggle, but it’s a terrific idea and a terrific photo.

  4. ShadowRun300 says:

So far I’ve loved your interpretation of the topics.  This’ll be fun to follow!  🙂

  5. Anonymous says:

That’s a purrtee piano. Good pic

  6. nonamedufus says:

What a cool pic, Meleah. I love it. I think you’ve found the “key” to this meme.

  7. Cadeaux says:

    Well, that’s just plain odd.

  8. Cheryl P. says:

I love that!!! Who would have thought to make piano pieces into wall art.  Great pic.

  9. HeSaidHisTelephoneNumberWas911 says:

Love it, especially since I now know it’s story.

  10. Ziva says:

Ohh no! Someone butchered the piano!

This is a lovely picture, Meleah, I’ve never seen anything like it.

  11. Meleah, you’ll have to tell us the story now. 🙂

  12. laughing mom says:

That is so awesomely cool !! I want a piano on my wall. Great pic, Meleah!

  13. Nicky says:

Ha! I recognize that too 🙂 Beautiful photo, Meleah.

  14. Nora Blithe says:

Love it!  Is that your house?  You know what caught my eye first?  The chandelier!  I need a new one.

  15. Thank you, Babs.

It’s been in our family forever.

When it broke beyond repair, my mother came up with the idea of hanging it on the hallway wall, rather than throwing it away.

It’s just too sentimental to toss.

  16. It is a real piano.

In fact, it’s the very piano I learned how to play, as a child.

  17. Awesome photo!  Love the piano and the gorgeous chandelier. Wonderful angle!

  18. Ron says:

    EXCELLENT capture, Meleah!

    That is the COOLEST!!!!

    *two thumbs up*

    X

  19. Thanks, Mo.

My mom’s like an interior decorating genius.

  20. I learned chopsticks on that bad boy.

  21. Ahahahhaha!

    You’re so punny!

  22. Thank you Cheryl.

You just have to be careful going up and down the steps when carrying a large item.
I’ve crashed into it a million times.

  23. Thanks, Ziva.

I decided to go with INTERIOR Architecture.
Because around here, there are nothing but strip malls and mass produced homes.

  24. I love how YOU have personally seen my photos, Nicky.

  25. That is my house.
    Those are my hallways steps.

I actually made a movie about that very chandelier, when my father and uncle Victor installed it.

  26. Bryan,

    Well, like I told Babs…

That piano has been in my family forever.
Sadly it’s so old it was broken beyond repair.

However, because of it’s sentimental value, we simply could NOT throw it away.
So…my mom came up with the idea of taking it apart and mounting it on the hallway.

With a shitload scaffolding and a lot of work, my father hung it there.

  28.  Thanks Linda! I have NO IDEA what the heck I’m doing. I just wanted to get the whole piano in the photo!

  29.  Ron,

Oh yes! I KNEW you would love and appreciate this for the coolness factor!

  30. It’s in your home? What a wonderful idea, to make a work of art out of it 🙂

  31. Mikewj says:

Gorgeous photo, Meleah, and I’m stunned to read that it was taken in your mother’s house. The staircase and chandelier are striking enough, but decorating with a grand piano — well, it’s just remarkably original, and I like it.

Shut the front door! Or the back door. Shut the door of your choice. Just shut the friggin door! This photo just bowled me over and that deconstructed piano masterpiece belongs in my house. I know it does. I am jealous….of the piano and the photo! Damn fine job!

  33. Ooops….scroll back, scroll back. I missed that. Sorry, I bet someone will ask again.:)

  34. Liz A. says:

Holy crap that is cool. And your dad got it on the wall, and installed your gorgeous chandelier? I am beyond jealous. Who did you find to design the piano?

  35. Sure is. That’s my hallway!

  36. Thank you, Mike.

My mom is an interior decorating guru.

  37. Ahahahahhahaha! Malisa!

    STF&BD

  38. It’s okay.

    I’ll keep answering them.

And I’ll keep posting new photos of the scaffolding as it was being installed along with the comments!

  39. Liz A.

It’s a real piano. My mother designed it.

    My father installed it!

  41. Liz A. says:

Did she actually break it down and get it ready to be mounted? She’s an interior super hero. I’d love to do this for my mom one day?

  42. She sure did!
And she IS an interior super hero.

I should post another photo of another clever design move my mom made.

Along time ago, we lived in another house that had a mural painted on the walls INSIDE of a barn.
When we sold that house, my mom didn’t want to leave the mural.
    So, she ripped it down.

Now it’s hanging in our family room.

I’ll go take a photo of that now. And post it here in the comments.

  43. Mike says:

The 2D piano is kick ass!

  44. I thought maybe that was the Waldorf Astoria till I started reading the comments! Great photo and beautiful hallway. Like everyone else said, hanging that grand piano is a great idea…or should I say grand idea! Great photography, Meleah!
