I Am Back

Back to work.

Back to the gym.

Back to emails and phone calls.

Back to reality and the rules of society.

Back to blogging and commenting.

But man….I had a wonderful six days vacation.

Wednesday I did absolutely nothing. Yeay me.

Thursday I toyed around with new verbiage, structuring sentences and paragraphs for the rough draft of chapters three and four in the book I am writing. I forgot how hard writing like that really is. This book is going to take me FOREVER to finish if I don’t really apply myself and quit putting it off. And I need to stop making excuses.

My Valentines ‘date’ was well spent with one of my close friends Tiffany and watching season two of Dexter (again). I guess I just can’t get enough serial killing in a day.

Friday I was graced with the presence of Chef Brookstone and my friend Jennifer. The day was well spent laughing, watching, and tying to learn how Brooke cooks all that incredible food I can eat. At least now I am stocked up with meals for two weeks.

Saturday morning I awoke to the migraine of the century. I couldn’t lift my head without feeling like I was going to vomit. Any movement, light, or sound was unbearable. Since I am allergic to Asprin, the only headache medication I can take is Tylenol, which happens to be useless. (Unless you take an overdose amount.) Fortunately, the pressure and pain broke around 5pm. I was intent on being there to witness my friend Jennifer perform at the Nights Of Columbus in Jamesburg. It was no Madison Square Garden, but I always love watching her sing. She did a great job. I am very proud of her. I could never be that brave center stage with a microphone and the whole room staring at me. (yikes.)

Sunday was nothing but the E channel and Movies On Demand. The perfect day.

Monday, I took my son to the movies with Tiffany and her two boys. I did my laundry and all the ‘chores’ I had neglected for 5 days. And, the parents returned home from Vegas.

All in all a very boring, yet a very relaxing six days.

I am glad to be back on the net. I have missed ya’ll. I have a ton of blogs to read and catch up on!

I am glad to be back (on the INTERNET) but not in the office.

    Rose:

How nice to *meet* you. Thanks.

    Hammer:

It went WAY too fast. I just STARTED to relax and unwind and it was time to come back to work. Gah. and Ugh.

** I was truly hoping to be busy and hectic as all hell. However, I managed to catch up with 6 days of work in a mere 2 ½ hours. Does that give you any clue as to how SLOW things are in my office? I am sure in another month (when and if things start to pick up around here) I will be reveling in the memory of these days, but for now this level of boredom is absolutely killing me. I can’t fake being busy too much longer. **

  5. Momo Fali says:

Tylenol is useless. I get migraines too. They suck…a LOT.

  6. BobG says:

Sounds like you may have recharged your batteries. I guess this means you are ready to start kicking ass and taking names.

  7. dawn says:

Sounds like you had a great week. WELCOME BACK 🙂

  8. Mike says:

I’m a bit of a vaction myself. Welcome back! New post up on Caffeinated Musings.

  9. Meleah says:

    Dawn:

I did. Thanks darling. Its nice to BE back.

    Mike:

I was wondering what happened to you and when / if you’d be posting again anytime soon.

    BobG:

Actually, I just started to unwind. I am not ready to be back to work…(or even write) but I am ready to be back on the net. I missed my peeps waaaaay too much.

    Momo:

I hate getting Migraines. I never had them before this year. And Tylenol can kiss my ass.

  10. The best friend says:

Back to societys clock must suck! Looking forward to another set of vacation days. Hmmmmm…..shouldnt we be thinkin about ITALY????? I think so. Now that – is a much needed vacation if you ask me. Ps I love Dexter.

  11. holly says:

nice. i’m sooo looking forward to some nat’l holidays. i know i shouldn’t be, i just started a new job. but hey, great new job vs holidays? still.no.contest.

  12. I have not had a real vacation in a long time, but I did have the last 2 days off. I feel like a new man … I enjoy my time away from work So Much!
Minus the headache (they are awful) I am glad that you had some quality time with quality people – and the E channel 🙂 Is Jennifer a professional singer? I love to sing, any chance I get. The biggest crowd was probably 250 at a wedding.

    Eric

  13. Glad you manged to rest up and re energize….now enough goofing off get back at it….:)))))))

  14. Ohhhh so relaxing 🙂

Boring days do wonder to one thing though – wrinkles!
Apparently doing nothing for a week can make one look younger a year – ha I hope. I know it does some good, but not sure 1 year is accurate 🙂

    Have a good week ahead!

    Jen:

Finally.Too bad you watched the edited for TV version of Dexter.

I suggest you get the DVD of season one….stat. (then you can watch season two with me on demand this weekend.)

ps…. I’m dreaming of OUR vacation in Italy right now.

    Holly:

Nothing beats DAYS OFF FROM WORK, especially PAID holidays / time off!

    Speedy:

I havent had a rel vacation either in like forever…maybe longer. But it was wonderful to be still. And yes, there is such glory in relishing a full day of the E channel. Jen is a singer with a self made CD and sings in a professional group, but this was her first “arena” solo. She did great. Now we just have to get her to ‘open mic nights’ . I had NO IDEA you were a singer! Thats soo cool. 🙂

    Robert:

No more goofing off. Im even finishing the 123 Book Meme you tagged me with 🙂

    RMH:

I do look and feel younger having slept! Thats for sure 🙂

  16. Michael C says:

Sounds like a great vacation to me! Although I didn’t see the words cheese or Tina Fey listed on any of your days…
    😉

  17. I’m addicted to Dexter too, not sure I could watch it all again tho. I tuned-in for the 1st episode on cbs … but they took out all the good F-words, LOL

  18. FV says:

    Welcome back Mel Mel,

I’m glad you are back, it’s been a little too quiet without the captain running the ship.

    😀

    FV

  19. terri says:

I’m so glad you had a relaxing vacation and really happy that you’re back!

  20. Meleah says:

    Michael C:

It was indeed. But you are right. There was no cheese or Tina. Maybe that can be the theme for my next vacation!

    Drowsey:

The CBS version Dexter was TERRIBLE. Ugh. Ripped Off. I was impressed with what they DID keep in, but they lost me at “Mother – Lover” I mean C’Mon. Its just not Dokes. And DEB? With her mouth? They are gunna have to change all her lines! I loved Season One. But have you watched Season 2? Holy FUCK. So Much Better. I cant even handle it.

    FV:

Aww… Thanks doll. Its great to BE back. xxoo

    Terri:

I really missed everyone. Ya’ll are like family ! 🙂 I stalked soooo many blogs today. It was wonderful catching up.

  21. Michael C says:

I sure like the way you think!!!

  22. How does one go about taking 6 days off the internetz? Supreme self control? Send me some of that, STAT!

  23. ExposedNYC says:

Ahh……I relaxed just reading your post!

Glad to hear you taking care of yourself and welcome back!

  24. Meleah says:

    Michael C:
You gave me the GREAT idea. xxoo

    Piper:
Yeah, it was TOUGH to stay away from the Internet and my friends, but I needed the rest. I am HAPPY to be back. Thats for sure.

    Exposed:
Yeah, it was very relaxing, and nice to see people in REAL LIFE for a change. Usually my only ‘human’ contact is via computer!

  25. Chefmom says:

AAwww, that sucks. Migraines are miserable. Are you allergic to the prescription meds for them? I take Zomig at the onset and it’s awesome. YUmmy food from Chef Brookestone!!!

  26. Meleah says:

    Chef Mom

I can take Immitrex, but we were fresh out.

The food from Stone is UNBEEEELEEEEEVABLE. One day I have to eat some of YOUR food! 🙂

  27. Diva says:

I could soooo use a break from everything. But I’m afraid by day 4 I’d be tweaking with none of the usual hub-bub to keep me hopping.

    Did ya drink any beer?

  28. Diva says:

This may very well be a duplicate. If so, sorry….

Anyhoo. I have no clue what I’d do on a vacation. I don’t know how to relax at all. Unless I’ve got beer.

  29. Meleah says:

    Diva:

No need to worry about “duplicates” I can always delete one or combine them.

The one thing I know HOW TO DO (besides CLEAN) is RELAX.

I did get a little antsy by day 6, but I think that is because I was DREADING the vacation ending!

    mmmm beer.

  30. Selma says:

So glad you had such a good rest (apart from the migraine. I occasionally get them myself and they are the worst.) I am also glad to have you back. Blogging just isn’t the same without you!

  31. Lee says:

Glad you had a good vacation. I’m looking forward to a few days off this coming week. My wife and I are going to make a trip to the Charolotte area to explore the NASCAR garages. Probably sounds boring to most, but we’re looking forward to it.

I get migraines too. In fact I had one last week, and you are right about Tylenol. I take Darvocet which has acetominephine in it, but in combination with something else. But even that I have to take soon enough or it does no good.

  32. Paisley:

I am glad to be back (on the INTERNET) but not in the office.

    Rose:

How nice to *meet* you. Thanks.
