Uptown Uncorked

First of all, the site Uptown Uncorked rocks.

[And not just because it’s written by my Real Life Best Friend of 20+ years. Also known as my personal ‘Wizard Of Oz’. I have to give credit where credit is due. Two years ago, Leslie is the one who suggested that I might want to put all my daily journaling to good use by starting a blog. She was the catalyst that has now become the ‘Momma Mia Mea Culpa’ ya’ll visit. And Leslie is 100% in charge of my entire web designing, because honestly, I haven’t got a clue.]

However, that’s neither here or there.

I am blogging about Uptown Uncorked for two reasons. Reasons, I think a lot of you will care about, or want to be a part of. I’d like to bring special attention to two posts in particular.

This first one has to do with cre8bbuzz. A social networking site. (Yes, it is sort of myspace-ish and/or facebook-ish…only cre8bbuzz is dedicated to writers, photographers, and bloggers whom are truly talented people.)

I know for a fact that a lot of you out here have used and loved cre8buzz, because I invited most of you to join cre8buzz with me! Unfortunately, they are having a hard time keeping afloat in these tough times. Please read this article explaining their situation better than I ever could.

I am hoping maybe one of you can help? Maybe one of you knows someone that knows someone else that can help?

(Also, this will personally help me test the ‘6 degrees of separation’ theory.)

Another article that I’d like ya’ll to read is more for the ladies. It’s about a website called  Strong Women In Tech.

That site is more or less a campaign and grassroots movement mentoring in education, as well as a concerted effort to change how we promote our fellow women in tech. The Strong Women In Tech campaign is an idea that has the lofty, but attainable, goal of bringing some of the strong female names in technology to girls in school to act as role models and inspiration. (And yes, I am a member)

For the full article, please read more here.

There are many more, well-written, accurate articles, on Uptown Uncorked that I feel we could all benefit from. Wont you stop by today and take a look around?

Great links, meleah. The cre8buzz opportunity could be really big for someone. I thought I’d signed up a long time ago but it doesn’t recognize me so who knows. I like the idea AND I stumbled Uptown Uncorked…

  7. Meleah says:

    Lance:
Yeah, these are some kick ass web sites.

    Kellypea:
Aw. You rule for stumbling UpTown.
    xxoo
    🙂

I wish I had the resources and know how to help save cre8buzz. Hopefully someone will come across one of these posts and it will work out!

  8. How come the cre8Buzz guy is an ant?? … or is it a girl ant?

Going to check out your links!!

  9. Meleah says:

    Speedy:
Ant is a DOOD. And her runs the Ant Hill which is a blog. He’s like the meet and greet welcome guy when you sign up…and he’s pretty cool.

  10. Awww Melz 🙂 Thanks for the linkage to those posts. I’m hoping to help the guys at Cre8Buzz and also hoping to get the Strong Women In Tech movement going via crowdsourcing and community involvement. You rock. 🙂

  11. Meleah says:

    Leslie:
You know Im all about supporting you!

  12. Jay says:

Going to check out your links right now!! 😀

  13. Selma says:

I hope Cre8Buzz gets someone to help them out because I do think they are different (in a good way) from all the other social networking sites. Going to read some Uptown Uncorked right now.

  14. dawn says:

Thanks for the info… going to check out Uptown Uncorked….

  15. Meleah says:

    Jay:
    Thank you!

    Selma:
I know. Cre8Buzz rules. It would be sad to see it go.

    Dawn:
    Sweet. Thanks doll.

  16. wornoutwoman says:

I love Cre8buzz and am sad they’re having issues. I wish I knew someone! B/c of them, I’ve met so many wonderful bloggers! Thank you for posting this. I will have to do a post similar to this next. Going to Uncorked now…

  17. Meleah says:

    WOW:
I know. I feel the same way.

Oh please do a post on your blog too? Maybe the more we get the word out the “right person” will read it and be able to help?

    *fingers crossed*

  18. Ricardo says:

I didn’t know they were in such trouble. I hate to see that happen. I got an invite to join you there. I met a few blogging friends from there as well. I hope they don’t go under.

  19. Mimi Lenox says:

I can’t keep up with all the new websites and ideas out there. It’s hard enough to write the (cough couch) six ? seven? blogs I have, much less Facebook and Twitter and buzz creating all over the universe. But if you say it is good then I will take your word for it and check it out. The technology/women idea looks promising too! I need someone to help me figure out how to blog “smarter” (especially promoting peace globes).
    Good ideas here. Thanks!

  20. Meleah says:

    Ricardo:
It would be a shame to see cre8buzz go down like that.

    Mimi Lenox:
    I know. Oh I know.

Its VERY HARD to keep up with all of the ever so changing technology and millions of websites these days.

Besides trying to run my OWN blog(s) visit everyone else’s blogs & write my OWN book it is very time consuming. You add my Facebook & my Twitter (and 90 million other places) can be considered a Full Time Job.

*But at least I LOVE this “job”

I don’t think you should / need to sign up for cre8Buzz, since they are probably shutting down soon. I would check out UpTown Uncorked & The Strong Women In Tech. For sure!

  21. Oscar says:

Good advice for everyone. But then again thats what we expect from you!

  22. Meleah says:

    Oscar:
Aw. Your soo good to me.
