*I saw this over on Jules Joyce website and I just had to ‘borrow’ it.*
“All writers are vain, selfish and lazy, and at the very bottom of their motives lies a mystery. Writing a book is a long, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.”
~ English writer George Orwell (1903-1950)
And with that, I have been overcome with the most excellent urge, diligent drive, and the all to familiar passion to really write. I am happy to announce that I have started working on my book again. Finally.
We all know just how fleeting these moments and opportunities can be. Therefore, I am grabbing on with both hands, so that I can take full advantge of my muse.
[I will be posting the REVISED editions of Chapter ONE & TWO after my final edits are completed, right HERE and I my even go as far as to let ya’ll get a peek at Chapter THREE when I am done. But after that, ya’ll are just going to have to wait for it to be finished!]
All the best Meleah. 🙂
You go girl! Get it out of you while the moment is there!
🙂
Good luck sweetie, I’ve read what you’ve written so far and you should definately keep it flowing.
So what are you doing on here? Get writing, woman! LOL!
I’m glad to hear you have the drive to write again! That’s great news. 🙂
That is great. Hold on to that and run with it for dear life. I hope by the time you read this you would have penned twenty pages.
Tree:
Thank You
Oscar:
Agreed!
The Girl I Will Bring Home to Momma:
Aw. Thank you.
Jay:
Im really excited to feel this way today
Urban:
I will! I havent felt like THIS in a VERY long time.
Good luck. I’ve also always wanted to start writing a book but I fear that mine will not be an original idea. It will be a shitty love story. Unrequited love.
Well good on you Meleah. I couldn’t write a book even if my very existence depended upon it 😀
YEEEEHHHAAAA. Good on you, Meleah. I know this book will be a success. I am so pleased to hear this!
well good – get to work, before you have to go back to work!
Sid:
Well, just so you know….
ITS NOT THE STORY YOU TELL.
ITS HOW YOU TELL THE STORY.
My ‘idea’ is not all that ‘original’
Nick:
HA HA HA
Selma:
Aw. Lets hope so.
Thank you sweet heart.
Tiffany:
I am not going back for a while. Having issues with meds will prevent me from being able to return any time soon.
xxoo
Grab on and write Meleah! And, I agree – it’s how YOU tell the story…and how you do tell it is original – it’s your voice in written word..
Write on my friend, write on!
Awesome! I am anxious to read Chapter 3 😛
May your “Moving Finger Writes” your wit for an award winning novel!
Lance:
yes sir!
Dazd:
I bet you are!
xxoo
Miss MoneyPenny:
I should be so lucky!
I cannot wait to read your revisions! Whoo hooo!
I’ve been working on my book too! I decided that I’m going to finish my shitty first draft completely before I send it to you to read again. I hope to have it done by Jan. 1, 2009…so stay tuned.
and you should write. you have the talent, might as well get paid for it too. i’m trying to write a 50,000 this month. i won’t make it, but i will try. so if you need me to yell at you to get crackin’, lemme know and yes i need to be yelled at too
Random:
Oooooh! YES!!
I am sooooooofa king excited!
Valerie:
I need lots of people to yell at me all the time!
xxoo
and here’s me YELLING back at you
Great news…now get to work!
Aha – you admit it! So you ARE an aspiring writer! And I thought you just wrote for the hell of it, like me.
George Orwell’s essays are absolutely fantabulous. Some of the best stuff I’ve ever read in my life. Notes on Nationalism is the best summary of the political impulse ever. If I were king for a day I would require everyone to read it. Why I Write, which I believe is the source of your quote, is equally good.
Sorry to say I don’t have any connections in the world of publishing, unless you count a small “vanity” publisher in my hometown. I guess I just unintentionally said that you don’t have to be nice to me.
Employee No3699:
Roger That!
🙂
Richard:
Yes. I AM. You can read all about THAT right HERE
Oh that’s okay if you don’t have any connections! I trust that when the time is right…the RIGHT PERSON will come into my life to get my finished product out the way it needs to be!
And, I like being NICE to you!
Good for you! I thought about writing a book… all I have to say about that is thank GOD for blogging. 🙂
Your book will be excellent, Meleah! I want a signed copy, which I’ll gladly buy. Thank you for the link to my blog!
Another writer. Wow. Just so you know, I’m soooo jealous of your ambition. I’ve always wanted to write a book, but never found the time, or a topic I thought would interest anyone. I wish you the best. Can’t wait for a sneek peak. 🙂
Shae:
Ha ha ha
🙂
Jules:
Oh! Thank you you are so sweet to say that.
I always get inspired when I read your blog!
Mike:
Thank YOU!
This is great! I have all the confidence in the world in you. You can so do this!
Betty:
Lets Hope So!
xxoo
Keep the gang over at WMDA posted…maybe we can showcase ya on our radio show when ya get famous!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
jodycakes:
Oh that would be fantastic!
