Lucky #27.
My grandfather, Poppa Sye, was born on May 27th.
My grandmother, Manga, was born on March 27th.
They were married on June 27th.
And Poppa Sye’s locker number at the country club, where he was the golf champ, was #27A.
And before he passed away, he also passed along his lucky number to me, when he gave me that coin in the photo above.
* I am participating in a 30-Day-Photo-Challenge along with these fine people.
Ooo, when did NJ start casting it’s own coins?
HA! Actually, there’s a story behind the #27 coin.
I guess I should have added that to my post.
A story? I can only imagine.
“Enquiring” minds need to know – what’s the back story on No. 27?
Okay, when I get back from the doctors, I’ll tell you about it.
I’ll tell you soon! It’s nothing major or anything.
Seventy-six cents? You don’t even have enough for a cup of coffee. Poor, poor, pitiful you.
LOLZ!!
Okay here’s the back story.

Awwww…I love your lucky number 27! You should wear it on a necklace!
What a lovely momento. I bet you keep it close to you all the time.
Meleah, I freakin’ love your back story on the number 27. How cool is that????
And what a treasure to have that coin from Popppa Sye!
Great photo, girl! Not only the image, but also the sentiment.

Awwww.. Meleah! That’s SO sweet.
I really should.
Especially to all my crazy doctor appointments.
Always!
Thank you, Ron!

Thanks for adding that great 27 story. I also wondered about the PI^JIT coin. Is it foreign?
That is so cool! Great photo!
No idea. I should probably ask my mom!
🙂
Bahahahahahahahaha! I’m a researcher from waaaaaaaaay back.Unless I’ve done some due diligence, I get all wonky about stuff. It’s just another one of those annoying habits I learned early and can’t seem to shake.
But I love that about you!
I love the meaning behind the coins 🙂
Ah, I love your tales of Poppa Sye! Thanks for sharing theses #27 tidbits!
Thanks, darling.
You’re very welcome!
I got chills from your photo and story. My mother gave me pieces of my grandmother’s jewelry after she died. Aside from the aesthetic value, every time I wear one of her pieces, I feel like my grandmother is with me.
Awwwww…..That’s awesome.
I like thinking and feeling as though both of my grandparents are watching over me, or even with me.
I miss your stories about Poppa Sye, so how nice to see this picture and learn a little more about him! (And he was a golf champ? Do we know that story?)
Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever told his golf champ stories!
Maybe after this god-forsaken challenge ends, I will do just that!
You’re over halfway there!
Thankfully!
🙂
That’s so cool- my Dad never gave me a 27 cent coin.
awh, how sweet this photo is.
Thank you.
BTW Â your comment on FB about how the hell to find your way out of the office – cracked me up – for TWO DAYS.
Thank you, Val!
Can’t comment. I need a tissue. Sweet, sweet Poppa Sye.
XOXOXOXOXOXO
Meleah i have CHILLS. CHILLS! That is amazing!
That’s a straight up awesome photo and story, Meleah. I know you very close to your Pappa Sye, and I’m glad you got his lucky token.
xoxoxo
Thank you, MWJ.
That’s a great story! Always carrying their love and luck with you.
🙂
That’s a beautiful story about your grampma & granma. And for that reason and more, I love this photo this much (looks at the universe)
🙂
Love how you personalized this one. The story of Poppa Sye’s lucky number is sweet. And now you have something of him to keep with you forever.
Thank you!
🙂
