[Week 15: May 10th-16th]
* For those of you who are NEW to this blog, or NEW to ‘Doing Things Differently™’ you can find out HOW and WHY “DTD” began simply by clicking HERE. *
‘Once Upon A Time’ A Girl Named Meleah wanted to improve the ‘Quality Of Her Life’ so she started ‘Doing Things Differently™’. And then she noticed the ‘Little Changes’ she made every day had a huge impact on her life. And even though Meleah had a few ‘Setbacks’ she kept on forging ‘Ahead’.
After completing ‘The First Four Weeks’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ Meleah stepped up her game by taking things to the ‘Next Level’. She momentarily took a break to ‘Visit With An Old Friend’ but she continued ‘Doing Things Differently™’ even after things became slightly ‘Boring.’
Meleah completed ‘The Second Month’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ but she felt like things were too ‘Mundane’. So, she started ‘Doing Things Differently™’ with a little more ‘Intensity’. And then she got ‘Injured’. As such, sadly, she was forced to take ‘Time Off’ from DTD.
During the ‘Fourth Month’ Meleah was given ‘Medical Clearance’ and she was able to Proceed with ‘Doing Things Differently™’- So she started all over ‘Again’.
ONWARD!
Monday, otherwise known as ‘Day Sixty-Eight’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ or [D68/DTD] began poorly when she was awoken by ‘Incessant Telephone Ringing’. Apparently, Meleah’s MOTHER locked herself out of her car. Now, Meleah must REALLY love her mom because she raced out of the house on a ‘Rescue Mission’ and without having any coffee.
[insert * shock heard round the world.*]
But Meleah’s whole day was ‘Thrown Off Schedule’ from that moment on. She was ‘Mad Crazy Busy’ preparing, and shopping, and organizing, and cleaning, and getting ‘All Things Ready’ for her son’s birthday. She NEVER did find ‘The Time’ to put on her ‘Outfit’ or go ‘Outside’.
Tuesday, otherwise known as ‘Day Sixty-Nine’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ or [D69/DTD] started at the ‘Horrifying Hour’ of 6am. And by 6am, she really means 6am. In fact, Meleah was so worried about waking up that early, she never went to sleep. Instead, she stayed up ALL NIGHT working on her book. She didn’t go to bed until after she dropped her son off at school for ‘The Very Last’ – ‘Play Practice’.
That afternoon, after only a mere ‘Three Hours’ of ‘Unconsciousness’, a ‘Delirious’ Meleah really DTD when she agreed to take someone else’s ‘Teenage Daughter’ out for some ‘Driving Practice’. And she’s not taking about driving ‘Golf Balls’. She’s talking about driving an ‘Actual Vehicle’. Much to Meleah’s surprise she was ‘Highly Impressed’ with her ‘Tribal Sister’s Daughters’ – ‘Excellent Driving Skillz’.
And when she came home, Meleah put on her ‘Outfit’ and she went ‘Outside’. And she walked around the block SEVEN TIMES In A Row [otherwise known as ‘Two Miles’] for the first day, for the second week in a row. And rather than smoking a cigarette she did 100 ‘Stomach Crunches’ and 50 ‘Push Ups’ for the first day, for the second week in a row.
After taking her son to ‘Guitar Lessons’, eating a quick dinner, and checking her emails, Meleah went to bed precisely at Midnight, because she was absolutely exhausted.
Wednesday, otherwise known as ‘Day Seventy’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ or [D70/DTD] Meleah sprung out of bed precisely at Noon. And, after 12 ‘Consecutive Hours’ of ‘Slumber’, Meleah felt awesome. She immediately decided to play ‘Catch Up’ with her friends while making her famous ‘Internet Rounds’ by reading/commenting on her ‘Favorite Blogs’ before she even brushed her teeth.
That afternoon, Meleah put on her ‘Outfit’ and she went ‘Outside’. And she walked around the block SEVEN TIMES In A Row [otherwise known as ‘Two Miles’] for the second day in a row, for the second week in a row. And when she came home, rather than smoking a cigarette she did 100 ‘Stomach Crunches’ and 50 ‘Push Ups’ for the second day in a row, for the second week in a row.
That evening, Meleah attended the ‘Much Anticipated’ and ‘Long Awaited’ – ‘Opening Night’ for her son’s ‘School Play’. After driving her son back and forth to school ‘Every Day’ for ‘One Too Many Days In A Row’, she would finally get to ‘Witness’ her son’s ‘Performance’ as ‘Grandpa Joe’.
But that’s another blog post for another day.
[Don’t worry Ronnie C! I promise to include the photos you requested!]
Thursday, otherwise known as ‘Day Seventy-One’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ or [D71/DTD] began at 11:30 am. Before Meleah became side tracked, she put on her ‘Outfit’ and she went ‘Outside’. And she walked around the block SEVEN TIMES In A Row [otherwise known as ‘Two Miles’] for the third day in a row, for the second week in a row. And when she came home, rather than smoking a cigarette she did 100 ‘Stomach Crunches’ and 50 ‘Push Ups’ for the third day in a row, for the second week in a row.
And then she spent ‘The Rest Of The Day’ at ‘KHCC’ with her ‘BFF ATB’ until it was time for her son’s ‘School Play’, for the second night – in a row. Which she happily attended, like the ‘Proud Parent’ that she is.
[Again, there will be more on ‘JCH’s School Play’ in another blog post.]
Friday, otherwise known as ‘Day Seventy-Two’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ or [D72/DTD] kicked off at 10:30 am. And it was ‘Wicked Hot’ outside. Meleah really didn’t WANT to put on her ‘Outfit’ or go ‘Outside’, because the air was ‘Absolutely Stifling’. But then she remembered how just badly she feels when she ‘Skips A Day’.
So, a ‘Reluctant’ Meleah, put on her ‘Outfit’ and she went ‘Outside’. And she walked around the block SEVEN TIMES In A Row [otherwise known as ‘Two Miles’] for the fourth day in a row, for the second week in a row. And when she came home, rather than smoking a cigarette she did 100 ‘Stomach Crunches’ and 50 ‘Push Ups’ for the fourth day in a row, for the second week in a row.
That evening Meleah planned on attending ‘The Last Night’ of her son’s ‘School Play’ even though she had already practically memorized ‘Every Line’. But while she was ‘Getting Ready’ she felt the all too familiar onset of her ‘Food Allergies’ kicking in. And it was the kind of ‘Food Allergy Reaction’ that makes Meleah ‘Beg For Mercy’.
Sometimes Meleah is able to ‘Forget’ just how ‘Hypersensitive’ she is to ‘Basic Essentials’ in life such as ‘Food’. But with an ‘Extensive List’ like ‘THIS’ she REALLY needs to ‘Pay More Attention’ to what she’s eating, especially on ‘Important Days’.
Meleah could write yet another ‘All-Embracing Post’ wherein she tries to make light of her ‘Situation’ but she’s already done THAT. And she’s done that several times. And, anyone who really knows Meleah? Already knows just how badly she HATES having these ‘Annoying Medical Conditions’.
Needless to say, Meleah was ‘Sorely Disappointed’ when she was FORCED to MISS ‘Closing Night’ of her son’s ‘School Play’.
[Stoopit Food Allergies * ruining everything *]
Saturday, otherwise known as ‘Day Seventy-Three’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ or [D73/DTD] was not very good or productive. Meleah spent the whole day, recovering from a ‘Benadryl Hangover’. Fortunately, her brother ‘Abercrombie’ came down from ‘Somewhere Pennsylvania’ to hang out with her. And they laughed, and laughed and laughed. But Meleah does not want to bore you with tales of their ‘Inside Jokes’.
Sunday, otherwise known as ‘Day Seventy-Four’ of ‘Doing Things Differently™’ or [D74/DTD] began exactly at 11am. And it was probably one of the most ‘Perfect Days’ she’s seen all year ‘Weather Wise.’ And while she did NOT put on her ‘Outfit’ she did get ‘Dressed’, and she went ‘Outside’ with her friends to ‘Play Golf’. But more on THAT another day too.
And that’s a wrap.
* PS: Has anyone else been unusually and or EXTREMELY busy this month? Is it just me, or have there simply not been enough hours in the day lately?
I have some little somethin's on my site for you!
Yippee!
Wow, sounds like an active week! I've been crazy busy too, had to work the whole weekend. There must be something in the air!
Since I had the kids, there have never been enough hours in the day! Can't wait to read about JCH's play 🙂
I'm glad the play went well, though that REALLY blows that you had to miss one of the performances.
This has been a crazy month. I had six games to coach and/or go to this weekend. I love it, but w/games AND practices the month of May is particular nutty.
Sometimes I wish I didn't need sleep, but unfortunately I still do.
“And when she came home, rather than smoking a cigarette she did 100 ‘Stomach Crunches’ and 50 ‘Push Ups’ for the fourth day in a row, for the second week in a row.”–>Now I wish I could do that!!!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!! I CAN'T WAIT to see the photos of your son's play!
OMG, I totally forgot that his play was this past week! I bet you were sooooooo excited, hu? Did you send him flowers on opening night? I LOVE open nights. Scary, but THRILLING!
So sorry to hear about your bout with food allergies on closing night – DRATS!
And you GO, girl…for working on your book with so much dedication….brava!
Yes, this month I've been CRAZY busy myself. In fact, I had the day off today, and spent (much needed) time relaxing outside in a nearby park. It was wonderful to not have to do anything today.
Hope you had a super day, dear friend!
X
Ummm, ur doing amazinggggggggggg!!! Weeeeeeeee!
and, “PS: Has anyone else been unusually and or EXTREMELY busy this month? Is it just me, or have there simply not been enough hours in the day lately?”
HELLO!!!!!! I cant get anything done and I'm doing tons of stuff!! There is some sort of weird timeshift crap happening. I just know it. I think the Death Star is getting closer. Glad I joined the Dark Side. When it gets here, I'm totally gonna be spared.
See?? I'm losing my mind. WTF is with that comment???
Great job!
Also, my month has been insane with business! Maybe if I don't sleep, I'll be able to get everything done?
I cannot wait for the blog post on your son's play!!!
Sorry you missed closing night (:
Things have been busy at my house too, I know how you feel!!
My week was so crazy that I didn't even have enough time to go to the toilet!
Im telling you May has been CRAZY busy!
Thanks Nicky!
I hate my food allergies!
If only we didn't need sleep! I would get so much more done!
you can!
My son was so nervous, it was the first time her ever had stage fright.
Opening night was awesome! And I was a very proud momma!
I think Tuesday this week will be the only day I will have to myself to
enjoy all of the tings that I like to do / need to do!
May is NUTS
Ahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
Yeah right!
I need a whole day off just to read/comment/catch up on blogs!
That's exactly how I feel!
I think it is the end of school/end of activities year scramble. We always get really busy May into early June. A school play could definitely push you right over the edge. I am so sorry that you missed closing night due to food allergies. I just checked out your list. Good lord woman, you are allergic to everything. I am impressed that you are not permanently in an allergic reaction. You must do an exceptional job of avoiding allergens.
It does seem unusually busy. The end of the school year is here and it seems like the teachers are trying to cram everything in so it's, show up for this, show up for that…
Not only that but it seems like everyone likes to start to have celebrations and cook outs again and it's such a change from the hibernation of winter.
So yes, it's busy.
Yeah. That makes sense. Things have just been so hectic lately! Yeah, my list of foods to avoid is VERY difficult. And I have to take a ton of medications to keep things under control. But, sometimes no matter how careful I am, they flair up and it wreaks havoc. It took me three days to fully recover. UGH!
Mad Crazy Busy!
I started DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY back in January 2001 when I finally quit smoking cigarettes (I still enjoy a cigar or two, but don't inhale). It was hard at first and since I'm not exactly known for my inner strength and and long-term attention span, I figured it would last a few months at best and that would be it. But I kept at it, and when I slipped, I got right back out there. To make a long story short, I still go the gym five days a week, eat healthy and just take better care of myself. I've never felt better. It's really cool to see you make the same changes, Meleah. I know you can do it. Because if I can, anyone can. Hang in there! 🙂
I've been extremely busy, too. I think someone has been systematically shortening the days this month just to drive me bat-shit crazy.
I blame Obama.
2001? Wow! Good for you! Thanks for the support!
I need all the inspiration I can get!
🙂
Ahahahahhaah! Ahahahahahha!
That was a busy week!
I suffer with all sorts of allergies, but fortunately, where food is concerned, I have discovered that it's the additives in foods that I'm allergic to. Providing I read labels, and eat home made foods as much as possible, I'm mostly OK. I don't know what I'd do if I had your list of food allergies.
Home cooked meals are the best anyways!
Reading labels can be annoying, I know because I read them all the time!
At this point I am mostly used to my allergies, I just HATE when they
interfere with my life like that.
There are not enough or too many hours in the day. I am not sure which it is. I am sorry about your 'medical problems' and hope you are feeling better now.
Im better. Took three full days to recover, but Im fine now. Thanks love.
I couldn't see one of the posts you linked to because it was password
protected.
I will email you the password if you want it?
I have been really, really busy too. It's insane. I am so sorry you missed the closing night of the play. Damn those food allergies. I bet JCH was really good in it. Can't wait to hear all about it!
He was a little nervous, but he did a great job!
He never messed up one line.
i have a dirty joke about helping you out with “day 69” but im not sure you would appreciate it.
Of course I would!
I am particularly amazed with Meleah's determination to get her rounds around the block everyday. Now I am so looking forward to a post on Meleah's son's school play. 🙂
You are The Best! xoxoxo
I agree there aren't enough hours in the day. At least you got to see your son's play the first two days!! Glad you are feeling better 🙂
Thank you!
Crazy does not even begin to describe my week. Been busier than a one-armed paper hanger with an itch. I don't even have time to read all of my favorite blog sites. 🙁
Hope you are feeling better. With your schedule, you don't have the time to be sick…
Exactly!
