Philadelphia Blogger Meet Up – 2012

Last weekend I had an absolute blast meeting up with fellow bloggers and long time friends: Kathy, Valerie, and Ron. In fact, it was pretty totes amazeballs. We shared a lot of laughs, wonderful conversation, a lot of love, and some really great food. Getting together definitely added a new dimension to our relationship. And I can’t wait to do it again.

But rather than bore you with still photographs, or a write a bullet-point filled post covering the highlights of the day, I created this little video montage for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy!

PS: If you ever get the opportunity to meet with online friends in person, you must try it.  I’ve done this several times now and I’ve always been utterly delighted.

PPS: Ron’s take on the day’s events can be found by clicking HERE!

Nice. Looks like you had a lot of fun. I’ve met a few local people who I first met on Twitter.

  7.  I *heart* the Internet!

  8. Selma says:

This is a real feelgood post. It’s always nice to know that the people you connect with online are just as cool in person. What a great time you all must have had!

  9. Thank you, Selma!

It was a truly lovely day.

    🙂

  10. And I’m smiling all over again!!! You did a great job with the video, especially love the produce section and the old dude cane dancing! I’m so glad Val suggested this and we could all throw together this day trip at the last minute. It was the highlight of my vacation! Love you guys!!!!

  11. agg79 says:

Awefreakinsome!  Looks like you guys had a blast in Philly but I am surprised you didn’t get thrown out of the produce section for abusing the vegetables (nice tomatoes).  And the dancing cane guy was epic.  Looks like it was a great trip.

So far, I’ve met one blogger (Rock Chef) when I was over in London last year on a business trip.  It was a short visit, but it was really great to meet the face behind the keyboard.  I am working on plans to meet up with a 2nd person this summer.  I’ve always wanted to meet some of the famous (and infamous) characters on the net and would love to meet up with the legendary Meleah some day if I ever make it back to the East Coast.

  12. So you know how jealous I am, don’t you?

The best I can do is a surprise phone call 🙂  You can see you had a great day!

  13. I have a epal from France whom I met in NYC back in 2009. I thought it would be awkward and weird but it was a really fun day. I’d love to meet up with my current blogger pals.

  14. nonamedufus says:

Looks like you guys had a great time. But, seriously, Meleah, do you think it was a good idea to have 4 bloggers in the same place at the same time? I mean the President and the Veep don’t even travel together. Oh, and nice, erm, tomatoes.

  15. Ron says:

    *thunderous applause*

BRAVA, MELEAH! THIS VIDEO ROCKS, GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG….I actually got a bit teary-eyed and sentimental watching it.

And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you included you and I and the ‘vegtables’ – Bwhahahahahahahahhahahaha! When I told my mother about that, she said, “And you’re NOT going to put those pictures on the Internet, are you?”

    And I said, “Shit…yeah!”

Again, I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoyed meeting you lovely ladies! Thank you for driving in, I had BLAST!

    ((((((( Meleah, Val, Kathy ))))))

    Love you, girls!

    XXXXXX

  16. Middle State says:

I’ve had a few blogger meet-ups, from big group gatherings in bars to a quiet chat over coffee, both locally and on the other side of the country, all have been well worth it. Your meet-up looks like it was crazy-fun!

  17. Nora Blithe says:

So jealous that I live all the way in Georgia and couldn’t meet up with you guys!  I saw your photo earlier on FB and I’ve been pining to meet other bloggers all day!

  18. Love you too, Kathy!

And, I am so happy none of us got lost.

I will never get over how awesome of a driver Valerie is!

  19. Agg, I would meet you in a HEART BEAT!

And it’s so fun to meet bloggers in real life.
Especially when they turn out to be EXACTLY as you imagined them.

    🙂

  20. And I will NEVER forget THAT phone call!

  21. YAY!!!!

And thank YOU for being the most awesomest Tour Guide ever.

Seriously, my whole heart is STILL smiling. I’m thrilled we made it happen. Meeting you was totes amazeballs.

And shit yes, the produce photos MUST go on the internet!

    Have you washed YOUR vegetables?

    XOXOXOOXOXOXO

  22. 🙂 Me neither Maria.

  23. Thank you.

I think I prefer the smaller gatherings.
This way you can REALLY talk to each other.
    Yanno?

  24. If I am ever down south, we are getting together, Nora!

  25. HeSaidHisTelephoneNumberWas911 says:

Looks like a fantastic time in Philly, with great friends.  I’ve gotta work on my meet-up promise, what’s a little bridge between friends?  I just hope it comes close.  And, as usual, another great video.

  26. BAhahahahAHhAHAha!

  27. Yeah, Jimmy.

    You owe me a real-life-meet-up!

  28. Nora Blithe says:

    Totally!

  29. Looks like that was a great time and I loved the vegetable shots! Too funny! I’ve met a lot of people in person from meeting online and most of them have been great times. HOWEVER, there’s always an exception to the rule, I’ve had two experiences where the people turned out to be absolute psychos. One of them left a syringe on top of my toilet and another time someone tore down my shower curtain and dumped all of my books and magazines into my toilet and then ran out of my apartment. Glad you had a good time!

  30. Jayne says:

I love this.   How fun!   I’ve met the famous and infamous Linda and Alex Medrano, Becky Harks, and Katie Gates.  I’ve Skyped with Nicky from WWFC and talked every so briefly on the phone with adorable YOU.   I want to meet everyone!

  31. Ron says:

I’m thrilled we made it happen. Meeting you was totes amazeballs.”

Ditto, girl! It was the highlight of my week!

    “Have you washed YOUR vegetables?”

Bwhahahahahahahahaha! Yes, I did! Last night, and also today! 🙂

    X

P.S. I’m going to email you later, because I have question I want to ask you.

  32. SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

    Marty! That’s terrible!
I promise if we ever meet, you will NOT find ANY syringes!

  33. I am DYING to meet Linda & Alex!
    Luckily, I’ve already met Nicky!

    🙂

  34. Okay!

You know you can ask me ANYTHING!

  35. HeSaidHisTelephoneNumberWas911 says:

I hope to cash that IOU some day soon. ?

  36. shadowrun300 says:

I’m hoping I’ll meet up with a blog friend this summer, and I’m totally excited about it!  I have a feeling it’ll be a little more G-rated than your encounter, so it may not make as fun a story after….  😉 But you never know!!  I may have to try to ‘one up you’.  Not sure I could beat out the cane-dancing guy, though.

  37. Ahahhahahaah!
    I’m excited for you.
And I can’t wait to hear about it.
    🙂

  38. Lucy says:

Sadly, no, I have never met anyone, I would love to.
Looks like you had a great time and I loved the guy dancing and no one even gave him a second glance, even better!

  39. It looks like it was a great time!  I have definitely enjoyed meeting online friends offline and it certainly takes the relationship to another level.  Hopefully, we will be able to meet you at BlogHer this summer (hint, hint).

  40. Michonblog says:

The first blogger I ever met was Ms. Dingo from As I Was Saying. She hasn’t blogged in awhile but we’ve become BFFs! Then of course, last year, I went to BlogHer. I stayed with Lexa from Lemmonex and Kristine from Wait in the Van. I met a TON of bloggers! It was a blast.

  41. Maybe one day, you and I will meet up.
You know I am DYING to come to Sedona!

  42. Oh right. That’s in August. Yes?

  43. Awesome!! I love that!

  44. Linda R. says:

I’ve only met one fellow blogger, Jen, from Redhead Ranting, and we spent a great day at the zoo in Minnesota.  I hope t meet another blogging friend, Sara, from a sharing connection, sometime when we vacation in Florida.  I always say to my hubby, whenever I am in “fill in the blank” I’m going to look up so & so.  Hope to meet you sometime!

  45. What a wonderful, joy-filled video, Meleah! 😀 It makes me want to hunt down the
addresses of all the bloggers I know and go door knocking (which would take
lots of plane hopping—LOL). Of course they’d probably all think I was Super
Stalker when I showed up on their doorsteps, grinning and unannounced. 😮 The
only time I had the opportunity to meet people I’d known online was at a
writing awards convention in Vegas back in 2000, where I got to spend a
fabulous evening with many fellow authors, editors and publishers–who later also
became bloggers like me. I’d absolutely love to meet all the wonderful bloggers
I’ve come to know since then! Wow, what a blast!
