My Daddy and The Sofa

I talk about my father a lot on this blog, mostly because he is hilarious. Actually, I have a lot of fun with my whole family. Maybe even too much fun.

Just the other day we had to undergo a quick household renovation, in order to make some changes in Poppa Sye’s bedroom. Of course, I was more than happy to lend a ‘Helping Hand’. And by lending a ‘Helping Hand’ – I really just mean, I stood there, videotaping, and laughing.

Because let’s face it.

That’s what I do best.

    Oh, well, that took FOUR movers, and they took the door off the hinges, used a sledge hammer to widen the doorway and rebuilt the wall. There was NO way we were doing THAT again, to get it out!

    The kids came over when they heard the video start. they thought it was pretty funny and we all cheered when the job was finished. then the 7 year old got an extra chuckle for the ending. Now he wants to know what f-u-c-k means. Thanks for that. I’ll make sure to read when the kids aren’t home from now on.

    Your dad is too funny. After reading the last post and then this one, I realize that it must be his ability to use humor that saves him from being that guy you read about in the paper who chops up his own family and then shoots himself. LOL. Just kidding!!!!!! Seriously, I love that you are surrounded by such wonderful people and I know your dad wouldn’t have it any other way. You are truly blessed, my friend and I could not be happier for you! :)

    I laughed out loud when I watched this video…my husband and I had a couch to dispose of in a tiny apartment we lived in. Our landlord said we could put anything we wanted to in the dumpster, as long as it fit. We decided to MAKE IT FIT. Valuable lessons learned:
    1) Free furniture that you hate is no bargain. If your gut instinct is to give the movers $40 to take it back downstairs and ‘make it disappear’, go with it.
    2) Ethan Allen sofas, even spindly Gramama’s house-looking ones, are steel-reinforced battleships of doom.
