Madonna – Hard Candy – In Concert!

I have loved Madonna since I was a little girl complete with pigtails in the 4th grade. Do ya’ll remember way back to the glory days of the 80’s with songs like these?

1. “Everybody”
2. “Burning Up / Physical Attraction”
3. “Holiday”
4. “Borderline”
5. “Lucky Star”

I loved Madonna so much; I even used to try to emulate her image. Yep. I most certainly wore that heavy eyeliner, crucifix earrings, black rubber band bracelets…and all!

To this day, I am still a loyal die-hard fan. Especially after I saw her in concert for the 2006 ‘Confessions Of A Dance Floor’ Tour. In fact, I cried the very first time I saw her enter the stage.

Much to my surprise, guess WHO IS GOING TO HER SEE IN CONCERT TONIGHT? And sitting 3 Rows from Center Stage!!!!

Give Up?

It’s ME!

My friend from work decided I needed a serious pick me up and she SURPRISED ME with tickets for tonight’s concert. It’s my ‘early birthday present’ from her. I am sofa king excited about this.

Are there any other loyal or closet Madonna fans out here?

I like her early stuff. You know Borderline, Lucky Star — but once she got into her Papa Don’t Preach phase, I tuned out.

  2. Meleah says:

I just cant wait to see her in concert tonight!

  3. Rogelio says:

    Raising my hand here!

Although I sort of lost track of her more recent efforts, by ‘recent’ meaning since she went into that whole Ray of Light *Kabalah* thing…

    Have a great time!

  4. wow – fantastic. Try and keep off the stage and no crowd surfing!

  5. Katie says:

Lucky you! I love Madonna, ever since I was a little kid (4!) as well. She still inspires me.

  6. Lee says:

I’m not a Madonna fan, but have a great time! It is definitely important to have fun and get out of the “norm” every once in a while.

  7. Epiphany says:

Oh, OOOOOH, I have loved Madonna from day one. The early stuff, of course. Then later…Don’t Tell Me is exceptional, in my humble opinion. That woman is admirable on so many levels. Perfect? Nope. …but who is, right?

Have a spectacular time, Mereb, and tell us all about it. Btw, nice little bonus coming from where you work, huh? Just keep noticing the positives while you’re building your new life. xoxo

  8. marsha says:

I hope you have a great time.

  9. Trée says:

    The woman has aged well.

  10. Selma says:

She puts on a great show. I saw her a few years back when she came to Sydney and I thought she was fantastic. How she can dance like that and sing at the same time is beyond me. She must be super fit. You are going to have a brilliant time. Enjoy!

  11. AngryMan says:

No one noticed the Reservoir Dogs line? COME ON!

  12. Meleah – that is such great news! And too see Rosie as well! Too cool! 3rd row seats – wow!!! You shoulda brought your camera!!

  13. I was absolutely crazy about Madonna back in my days, which was quite sometime back. And Borderline was one of my favorites 😀 Gosh, I feel soooo old … hehehe …

  14. Eva says:

Awesome!!!! Have a wonderful time! I hear that she puts on a show that blows everyone away! I haven’t been following her music lately – but I am in LOVE with her early stuff! I used to do sit-ups to her entire first album back in high school. Perfect tempo for it.

Now I miss my flat stomach….

  15. I’m not a fan fan. However, I can and have appreciated her music for years.

    She is the 80’s.

  16. Meleah says:

    Rog:
I had a most excellent time.
    Thanks!

    Grumpy:
    She Rules.

    Katie:
    Madonna still inspires me too.
I think I am going to be her for Halloween this year!

    Lee:
    It was AWESOME

    Steph:
I knew you were a Madonna Fan too!
I really needed a night on the town like that. We went in complete VIP style. Limo & All. Madonna was brilliant and breathtaking. I was blown away. And she was inches away from me. Ive never been that close to any performer at any concert. So, THAT was incredible as well.

    Marsha:
    Oh I sure did.

    Tree:
    You can say that again!

    Selma:
She is like an unstoppable force. I have no idea how she does it. At age 50, she rocks even more. I *love* her.

    Angry:
I guess that one slipped by all of us.

    Jen:
Rosie O’Donnell was sitting Next To Me along with Madonna’s manager. I was sooooooooooooo pissed that I did NOT have my camera. After my camera was almost confiscated at the Chris Rock show, I thought better to be safe. But NO. EVERYONE had a freeking camera, and security didn’t do a thing about it.
    (sigh)
Anyway….The show was AMAZING and I am just glad I was there.

    Nick:
    Im old too.

    Eva:
Her concerts are like a Theatrical Event. I cant even handle it. She was three feet away from me, and I’m sorry, but photos do not do her any justice. She was more magnificent than ever.

    Urban:
She IS the 80’s alright. And she did a FABULOUS job of bringing them back last night. I *loved* all of her costumes

  17. LeeGro says:

Saw her concert back about 15 years ago… (wow that long?) I think it was the Girlie show tour. Fucking amazing. Truest icon of our time. Hope you had a blast! What a wonderful way to get your mind off things.

  18. Tiffany says:

WOWWZZAS wowwzzas wowwzzas!!!!!!!!! WISH I WAS THERE WITH YOU….sorry i crapped out on you after the show….fell asleep waiting for you!!!

  19. HOW TOTALLY COOL GIRL! I did a talent show performance to one of her songs in 4th or 5th grade. LOL Have fun with the “material girl”!

  20. I think we would all like to see you in your “Madonna” outfit … did you wear one to the show??
I cannot help but like the catchy songs .. especially from back when at dance clubs. I think there might still be a cassette in my case with Borderline (yes, I still have cassettes)
I remember seeing her first videos, and thinking …. WOW! I need to watch the rest of this. In any case, her music has revolutionized popular music.

ps … I think Lee really does like her, but just will not admit to it 😉

  21. WOOOOOOO!!!
Let’s do the Like A Virgin dance together 🙂

HAVE FUN MELEAH, and love you 🙂

  22. Meleah says:

    Leegro:
It was a wonderful distraction from my current ‘situation’…
    xxoo
    🙂

    Tiffany:
    Tis alright darling.
We will have plenty of other times to hang out.

    Heather:
I had a BLAST. It was certainly one of the best nights Ive had in a long time!

    Speedy:
If I do go as Madonna on Halloween, I PROMISE to post photos! Yeah..I think Lee is lying about his true Madonna obsession too!
    hehehehehee

    RMH:
Okay! Im down for that dance with you!
    She was Fan-Fucking-Tastic.

  23. dawn says:

Lucky Lucky girl! I’m sooooo jealous 😉

  24. bryan says:

borderline. hands down best madonna song ever.

  25. Meleah says:

    Dawn:
Im sure she will be playing in your neck of the woods? Totally worth going to see.

    Bryan:
My favorite is ‘MUSIC” among many many many others!
    🙂

  26. Barbara says:

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! THIS IS AWESOME! YOU HAVE THE GREATEST FRIENDS EVER!

I am not the same caliber of fan as you are but I do LOVE Madge!! I can imagine your excitement by imagining that it was U2 or Bruce….

    I am THRILLED for you!

  27. cmk says:

Being my contrary self, I must admit that I have never been a Madonna fan. However, I can imagine how exciting your night was! While I was close to the stage during the Clapton concert, it wasn’t nearly as close as you were–how great was that. Glad to hear you had a fantastic night. You DEFINITELY trumped my night seeing the Eagles. 😉

  28. Roshan says:

I only like the song ‘Remember’ from the With Honours soundtrack

  29. Meleah says:

    Barbara:
    It was a WONDERFUL experience.
    🙂

    CMK:
No way. Seeing the Eagles rocks Just As Hard!

    Roshan:
You need more Madge in your life!
    xxoo

  30. Jay says:

Oooh, Meleah! You lucky girl! I’m so happy for you! You must have had such FUN!!

Shame about the camera – I’ve done that, too. At the Sweeney Todd premiere I left my camera at the hotel, SURE that it would be confiscated if I tried to take it in, but no. Everyone had one. Dammit. Flashes going off all over, and all I had was my phone!!

  31. paige says:

I am a huge fan too–but I like her old stuff better than now.

I think she is a genius. And so is Prince, who i might like even more

  32. Ker says:

I saw her when I was 9 yrs old at Radio City Music Hall – her first headlining concert, mid eighties – with my older sister, my dad in full business suit (he worked in Manhattan) and my mom. My sister and I looked like little Madonna’s…how funny!!
The Beastie Boys opened (they were booed off the stage)
It was a great experience…I thought I was the coolest (still do!)
Sounds liek you had a great time – she kicks ass.

  33. Meleah says:

    Jay:
    I really did. Thank you.

I was sooooooooooo mad I didnt have my camera and EVERYONE else did.
    oh well. maybe next time!

    xxoo

    Paige:
    Madonna really is a genius.
And I totally love Prince too.
    🙂

    Ker:
    The Beastie Boys!
    * oh be still my heart *
    Madonna will forever Kick Ass!

  34. I have to admit, I owned the Boy Toy belt buckel, lace stockings with the short black mini skirt, I had her hair and tried to put the mole on my face. Loved Her !

  35. Well, how did it go? Would love to hear.

  36. Catscratch says:

I’ll have to scan the picture of me on my first day of high school… the bangle bracelets, the hair….

You and me both, girl!! I hope you had fun!

  37. Meleah says:

The Girl You Don’t Bring Home to Momma:

    Awake:
    Was Freeeking Awesome.

    Diva:
You dressed like her too? YES!
    You rock!
    🙂

  38. EDDIE says:

I WAS NOT READY FOR A FALL TO BLIND TO SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL.

  39. EDDIE says:

    SORRY SENT TO QUICK.
STILL GETTING USED TO THIS WRITING STUFF KEEP HITTING THE WRONG KEY !!

ANYWAY “YOU WILL LIVE TO TELL” . GREAT LYRICS .

GLAD TO SEE YOU OUT ENJOYING YOURSELF, WE NEVER SEE THE WRITING BUT WHEN IT ALL FALLS APART THE BEST THING TO DO IS PUT IT BACK TOGETHER MUSIC IS ALWAYS A GOOD PLACE START. SO HERE’S TO LIVING AND TO TELLING .
