It’s Enough Already.

Okay people. I don’t really like to talk about my Annoying Medical Conditions very often on my blog. Why? Well, because it depressing. But considering I have been sick for the entire month of September – I don’t have much else to write about.

I’ve been stuck on a never-ending cycle. And one that’s almost impossible to break. You see, when I do get sick [which is all too often] I usually have to take antibiotics. In turn, those trigger a Crohn’s Attack [because they are so harsh on my G.I. tract]. And that inevitably makes me even more hyper-sensitive to food. Therefore I had yet another near-death Food Allergy Reaction. Then I can’t eat anything other than clear liquids for several days in a row. Which of course weakens my immune system even further, leaving me drained, depleted, and utterly exhausted. And then I can’t fight anything off. And then I get sick. And then I need antibiotics. And round, and round, and round we go. UGH!

And, quite frankly? It’s enough already.

I’m sorry to be such a ‘Debbie Downer’ especially on a Monday Morning.  There is one good thing about being sick. I’ve been able to watch unbelievable excessive amounts of television. So, if you feel like talking TV with me, feel free to come over here.

Otherwise, I’ll try and find a way to write something more uplifting later this week.

I'm sorry you're sick sweetie…have they considered alternate dosing options for the antibiotics?

  2. I think it was so bad because I had to take two rounds of antibiotics.

And the second round is what really destroyed my stomach.

I almost ended up in the hospital Thursday night.

Thank god we have Epi-Pens and a lifetime supply of Benadryl.

    *sigh*

  3. SilverNeurotic says:

Being sick constantly is my idea of hell.

  4. But on Monday's you're allowed to be a Debbie Downer 😀 I do hope you get well soon Meleah.

  5. agg79 says:

Being sick for that long really sucks. I hope you can kick the cycle and get back to some normal life.

And I wouldn't label you as a downer. You've gone through enough to qualify for a little “venting”. Try to take it easy and post when you feel up to it.

  6. Thanks Agg. It's just so frustrating. And depressing.

  7. marymert says:

Booooo! That really stinks Meleah. I hope you are back to enjoying burgers in no time 🙂

  8. geechee_girl says:

Aw, Melz 🙁 hugs to you.

Hey, did you see the news about Hudi on Facebook? Sad stuff this Monday AM, geez!

  9. What news?

    *races over to facbeook.*

I love you Leslie. And I think we need a VISIT together!

    That might cure me.

  10. I'm sorry you're still so poorly 🙁 Lazing around and watching TV is a good way of getting lost in something other than how bad you feel.

  11. Yes. Television certainly has been good to me.

Hopefully, a few more days of resting and laying around will allow me to get

out of the house by Thursday. I'm going slightly stir crazy!

  12. Marty Wombacher says:

That sucks! Feel better soon, Meleah!

  13. Ron says:

Oh, my dear friend…you're not a “Debbie Downer” at all. You're just expressing how you feel right now, and being sick is no fun.

Aren't antibotics tricky? They can do so much good when it comes to infection, but sometimes the side-effects are worse than the infection. I too had a problem with taking them in July when I had that tooth abcess. They TORN up my stomach because they were so strong. I finally had to cut back to only one a day, and they eat yogurt to replace all the good bacteria.

Sending ya healing thoughts and good vibes, for a speedy recovery.

    (((( Meleah ))))

    X

P.S. if you can, watch “The Jetson's” cartoon. They always make me feel better when I'm sick.

  14. Thanks Marty!

    Im trying.

  15. Thanks Ron. And I am totally going to watch the Jetsons!

    And The Price Is Right!

  16. Oscar says:

I need to come visit. So you don't get bug eyes from too much TV.

    Feel better my friend!

Will go and see what ya been watchin!

  17. Jaffer says:

    {Hugs}

Hope it brightens your day even a tiny bit !

  18. Thanks Oscar!

    I could use some company.

    🙂

  19. Crohn's is bad, Meleah! I'm so sorry you are feeling punk. I've got CNN on in the other room right now. I think it may be time to look for the Real Housewives or something truly educational. I really hope you are feeling a lot better soon, honey. This has been a long spell I know.

  20. You know I love me some Housewives.

And all things Bravo network / E! Channel

It's so interesting how no one wants to write about this stuff and yet the readers are always very understanding. I feel the exact same way. I don't want to have to do a serious post; it makes me feel vulnerable. And yet I always get support when I do show that side.

I feel the same when I read a post like this — I feel like we're friends and I'm interested in what's going on. It doesn't have to be fireworks and rock music; I'm still interested in the dust bunnies and the dishes in the sink. Here's hoping your sink is cleared of dishes and shiny clean by Wednesday.

  22. Thank you so much for understanding.

I didn't want to run all over the internet leaving comments everywhere

without updating my own blog and mentioning why I've been MIA.

    But, yeah, it's embarrassing.

Thankfully, we have a supportive blog network!

    🙂

  23. Jayne says:

When you take antibiotics, do you also take probiotics to replace the good bacteria? That's hugely important. Any local health food store will carry a good line of them and their people are usually pretty knowledgeable. Some people take probiotics every day just as a good supplement, but it's especially important when you take antibiotics. You might want to think about starting yourself on some right away. So sorry for your illness.

  24. peedee says:

Oh girl. I do NEED to talk to you. I was in the ER a week ago this past saturday for MASSIVE IF I HAD A GUN I'D HAVE USED IT PAIN IN MY BELLY. Much morphine and a CT later I was told I had an very inflamed transverse bowel. Large intestine? Anyway my white cell count was through the roof. They wanted to keep me and I refused. I let them give me a couple of bags of IV antibiotics and took off. I actually felt better earlier last week. Then friday I started draggin again. pfffffft. I went to the doc today. She's admitting me tomorrow morning for IV antibiotics and fluid replacement. I asked for how long and she said at least 3-4 days if not more. I also have to have that awful nasty test done. I shall not speak its name. ugh. Anyway, she said they are thinking IBS or Krohns or ulcers in my intestines. WTF??
Anyway, I cant take oral antibiotics. They make me violently ill. I mean cant lift my head off my pillow ill. For days. So maybe if they do IV antibiotics for you it wont mess up your stomach and start the cycle?? Just a thought. Hit me up on FB. I need to pick your brain!
I'll have my laptop with me when I go in tomorrow.
I hope you feel better honey. muahs.

  25. Nicky says:

Poor Meleah! I hope you feel better soon. Here, they say laughter is the best medicine, so I'll tell you a joke :

    Nicky – “Knock knock”

    Meleah – “Who's there?”

    Nicky – “Atch”

    Meleah – “Atch who?”

Nicky – “Bless you. Get well soon!”

    Hahahahahahahaahaha…..hmmmm. Feeling better yet? 🙂

  26. Really?I had NO IDEA. Thanks Jayne. I am totally going to find a health food

store tomorrow and find out about these probiotics!

  27. Oh Snap! I know what you are going through and you may be in for a rough few

days. And those tests are god-awful. I've had them ALL! I really HOPE for

your sake that its just IBS. And not crohn's. IBS is much more manageable

and it's not an auto-immune disease.

Whatever they tell you do to? DON'T ARGUE. I know, I know, it's horrible,

invasive and humiliating. But it's better to find out exactly what you are

dealing with so they may treat you properly.

And I will be available for you all day tomorrow.

    xoxoxoxoxo

  28. Aw! And ahahahahaahhhahahah!

Thank you Nicky. I think I'm cured!!

    xoxoxoxo

  29. BK says:

Sorry to hear about your sickness. POWER LADY, get well fast!

  30. moooooog35 says:

    ESPECIALLY on a Monday morning?

I find that's the best time to be a downer. At least you have an excuse:

    IT'S MONDAY.

Then I just abuse the privilege.

  31. michellegartner says:

Essh two rounds of antibiotics- that must suck on your stomache. Hope you are doing better soon. HUGS.

  32. Thanks BK! I'm working on it!

  33. Selma says:

I am so sorry the antibiotics do that to you. That must be torture. I hate being that sick, it is so depressing. At least you got to watch a lot of telly. My idea of fun. Hope you fully recover soon.

  34. Thanks Selma! Good/Trashy TV always makes me feel better!

  35. Lucy says:

You know what sweetie we are here for you and I rather you write honestly then make it up (like some other bloggers which I have left) Anyways, I am hoping you get through this soon but sometimes your body takes longer than your brain and it is frustrating. I know how the television can get boring but also be the only salvation at the same time. I will head over to your t.v. blog and check it out. You might want to check out my Reality Blog http://www.RealFansclub.com and we can chit chat over Reality t.v. and please comment on those blogs for some reason the people who read those blogs don't comment on the blog they comment on twitter, it is is odd???
