Honest Scrap

honest+scrap+award

Whoo Hooo! I won THIS award from the very talented writer, Gina, who authors the blog called A Muse In My Pocket! [And, she is awesome.]

This award means I have to tell you 10 personal things about myself that I haven’t already blogged about. And I have to give it to six other bloggers.  Passing this award forward will not be difficult. However, coming up with 10 things I haven’t already told you? Is proving to be quite the challenge.  But, I’m going to give this my best. So here goes….

1. I am still very conflicted over a certain ‘On’ again ‘Off’ again relationship in my life. And NO, I do NOT want to talk about it. I am just trying my best to stay focused on ‘Doing Things Differently’ because that seems to be working well for me.

2. I honestly believe that having a really good sense of humor is absolutely crucial. And that it’s very important to be able to laugh at your self.

3. In addition to my fear of Spiders and Bridges, I am also terrified of being alone for the rest of my life.

4. Occasionally, I still have delusional dreams of grandeur.

5. I am 35 years old but sometimes I still tell people I am 33.

6. I think I am starting to LIKE cooking, but please don’t tell my parents.

7. I am extremely indecisive and it can take a very long time for me to make up my mind.

8. My father always says to me, “For some one who is so smart, you sure are quite gullible.” And, he’s right.

9. I am a ‘People Pleaser’ which is NOT always healthy.

10. I may be a good person, but I am not always a nice person.

Geez. Sorry to be such a downer people. This honesty stuff is brutal.

Now, I am not really into Astrology or any of that jazz. But. Apparently, I am the Walking Definition of the Libra sign. On a whim I Googled my sign ‘Libra’ right AFTER I wrote the above list and found this:

The basic Libran nature is diplomatic and charming. Libras have an idealistic and generally peace loving nature. They are easygoing and sociable, in general. On the other side of the scale, Librans are known to be indecisive and changeable, gullible and easily affected. Often good looking, they exude certain elegance, charm and fine taste. As lovers of beauty and harmony, both in art and life, their nature is gentle and kind. They are gifted with a strong sense of justice and fair play, and have fine analytical abilities. They are known to be objective and impartial in making judgment calls. They are more interested in making friends than enemies, are willing to go along, to get along and therefore will usually do whatever it takes to maintain a relationship. Librans are sensitive to others and understand the emotional needs of their associates. They are optimistic and cheerful people and have an ability to charm and delight their friends and acquaintances. Very sociable, they abhor cruel or vicious actions, and shy away from vulgar and offensive behavior. They dislike scenes, and will often go out of their way to avoid conflict. They prefer to cooperate and compromise, and will give up, even when they feel they are in the right, rather than put up with the ordeal of an argument. Discord makes them totally insecure, and uncomfortable. They need and want harmony in their lives, and will do whatever it takes to have it. Librans are not loners, and do better in partnership both in their personal, and in their business life.

Um. Yeah.

That is spot-on accurate.

And now, the six bloggers I am passing this along to are:

Terri

Selma

Cute Ella

Christine

Oscar

Ron

*Hopefully, ya’ll will post something a little more cheerful than I did!*

    I'm tellin your parents…. No I'm not……I'm tellin your parents……No. I'm not.

  2. Robbie says:

I think your cheery Babe !!!!! Loved your answers, and I promise I won't tell the folks if you come cook for me 🙂

  3. Chuck says:

Hey, I forgot to ask, did you ever go over my favorite bridge, the one from Washingtons Crossing over to Jersey. My house was on River Rd about 1/4 mile south and I went over it every day. Most peeps hate that bridge. Just remember to pull in your mirrors ;>)

  4. No. I dont think I've ever been on that bridge, and I can promise you, I will probably NEVER go over that bridge! Although, since I am DTD I might have to!

  5. I thought #6 was funny! No I won't tell your parents.

Nothing wrong with wanting to please. It means you're aware of others and their feelings. But never at the expense of yourself of course!

Thanks for sharing. It wasn't a downer for me. Just you, being you. I like it.

  6. Gina says:

    Holy Crap! We're A LOT alike! (Except I'm 36).

I admire the fact that you are Doing Things Differently. It's not easy and the change comes slowly. Most people won't even admit that they need to change. And if they do, it's a long tough road, but so well worth it. You're awesome lady.
It's also a relief to know that it's a life long process, that we don't have to be a certain way by a specific time.

I did the on again off again thing ONCE in my life and it went on for four years. What a nightmare, I mean, a learning experience that was. 😉 Not that we're talking about it…

    I'm just delusional, occasionally.
I am also smart and oh so gullible, and I was on the street for some time! Go figure. Oh the funny, funny stories of gullibility I have from my junkie days…

And number 10…I LOVE number 10. That says it all. I've been trying to figure it out for so long. Oh Meleah, YOU…have completed me. 😉 hehe.

Thank you for your honesty. Sometimes scary, I know.

  7. Anne says:

Congrats on your award. I love cooking! And I don't care who knows it :). I promise not to tell your parents. I am a people pleaser too. I can't stand confrontation.

  8. Ron says:

OMG, now I know why I like you so much…..

    You're a LIBRA!!!! Me too! Oct. 2nd

I don't think this post was a downer at all. I think it was both honest and fun!

And don't you just LOVE having to make up our minds? I think I would rather eat a mouthful of GLASS!

This is also why we both don't cook, enjoy humor, are both smart and gullible, and have the same feelings about relationships. And what's really funny is that Libra is the “relationship sign” in the zodiac.

    Enjoyed this post, Meleah!

And listen, I want to thank you SO MUCH for passing this on, but I don't partake in memes. I hope you understand.

Have a FABU day, my Libra friend!

  9. Katherine says:

I enjoy learning more about you!

  10. Ned says:

I'm a Libra and that pretty much describes me as well. I guess that means I “believe” in astrology now.

  11. slyde says:

That on-again, off-again relationship is about ME, right? I keep telling you that i'm into you…. i dont know what else to say…

  12. Beetle says:

I can't say any of your ten responses really surprised me 🙂

  13. I have a thing for libras, but don't tell anyone. 😉

  14. Hi! Congrats on your award – now the only thing you forgot to mention was your fear of cane toads!

  15. nickphillips says:

I have delusional dreams of grandeur only a daily basis … LOL!

  16. Gina:
For real? We might be twins!!!!
    xoxoxoxoxo

“I did the on again off again thing ONCE in my life and it went on for four years. What a nightmare, I mean, a learning experience that was. 😉 Not that we're talking about it…”
That cracked me up! well the “Not that we're talking about it..” part!

I am glad you liked #10 as much as I do!~

  17. Oh I loathe confrontation too!
And, can you cook for me one day?

  18. Oh, I very much understand NOT wanting to participate! No offense taken.
And I LOVE that YOU are a Libra too!
Libra's rule. Except when it comes to making up our minds!

  19. dammit. I was trying to dig for stuff you DONT know about me! Shoot~

  20. OMG! Those are SOOO creepy!

  21. Anne says:

I would be happy to. I love cooking for other people, my kids wont try anything new.

  22. peedee says:

congrats! You deserve the moon girl!!!

    and:
    9. I am a ‘People Pleaser’ which is NOT always healthy.

Only if your an enabler, which is different. I think. lol

  23. territerri says:

Oh man…. I'll try! LOL! But 10 things I haven't already told the internet about myself? It'll be a stretch!

Funny, I'm starting to realize I like cooking too. When you have the freedom to experiment a little and you're doing it because you want to, not because you have to, it really can be fun!

  24. Selma says:

Thank you for the award. You are so kind. I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon thinking about what I should talk about. It'll be fun.I think it's great that you enjoy cooking. I don't love it so much, although I really enjoy baking. I tend to want to please people too. Sometimes it lands me in trouble. I couldn't agree more about having a sense of humour. Absolutely essential in this crazy life. I would be locked up somewhere if not for my sense of humour. Thanks again, hon XX

  25. I had no idea cooking could be fun! And laughter is essential! I can't
wait to read your list! xoxoxo

  26. It really IS difficult to find 10 things you haven't blogged about!!!!
But I'm looking forward to reading what you come up with!

  27. Thank you!!!

I don't know if I am an enabler but I tend to do things just to make
others happy and sometimes at my own expense!

  28. nannygoats says:

Hey, man – if I had my choice between hearing something honest from you and hearing something cheerful, I'd choose honest every time. Granted if they both happen at the same time, that's OK too, but so what if it doesn't? I don't need puppy dogs and rainbows all the time. Blech!

  29. moooooog35 says:

I knew you were a people person already. I read it in the men's room. I also am the one who wrote it. I believe everything I read.

  30. Aw! Thank you for that! You rule.

  31. Ned says:

    All hail the scales!

(Didn't think I'd reply to your reply, did you?)

  32. No! But I am PSYCHED that you did! And once again, you have put a HUGE smile on my face!
    🙂

  33. cuteella says:

    Done! XOXO

  34. cuteella says:

And I'm with you on #10

  35. Katherine says:

I remember being on the bus in my sophomore year and having a guy say, “People have been talking about you…” Of course I freaked out…”WHAT?!” “Yea, they say you are gullible”…. believe it or not, I still didn't get it… he had to repeat it. <sigh>

  36. Im sorry, but THAT is friggen hilarious!

  37. Rogelio says:

Re: #3 – Spiders & Bridges come with the territory… just try to avoid as much as possible. The third one?, don't worry about it; won't happen (ie: Librans are not loners!).

  38. Number five cracked me up! You could easily pass for thirty, so I wouldn't sweat the age thing. Good honest answers, Meleah!
