Germ-A-Phobe

My father is the biggest freak when it comes to germs. He is forever washing his hands; he always carries anti-bacterial lotion (and Clorox wipes) in all of his cars, desk drawers, and pockets. The man is terrified of germs. Year Round.

Now that I am suffering from bronchitis and the flu (while living inside of his house) he is walking around having internal panic attacks that he is going to get sick. Especially since he is leaving next week for the annual ‘All Guys Ski Trip’. This year’s destination: Canada. A long awaited skiing excursion. My father will absolutely positively KILL me if he gets sick as a result of my shenanigans.

My father also happens to be very close friends with a medical professional, a pulmonary specialist. Since as most of you know, I no longer have an immune system, rather then waiting around for the inevitable pneumonia to return this year…my father was delegated the responsibility of taking me to said personal medical professional pulmonary specialist to prevent my condition from worsening.

This is what he looked like while driving me to and from the doctors. Now that’s hot. And smart. The problem with wearing this mask, is that when my father tried to remove it from his face, the over zealous elastic bands, which hold protective cover over his mouth, snapped back with an unstoppable force, hitting him in the eyes. My father was temporarily blinded for a solid 45 minuets. My Poor Daddy.

I am Sorry
.

Alas, I have awoken from a 19 hour deep sleep. I am heavily medicated, highly caffeinated, and home from work. I think I might have the necessary energy to finally sit down and write the all too anticipated Reunion Post….(albeit I still have a VERY cloudy head) but I will be back to read/comment on all of your blogs. Man I miss my peeps. 🙂

I am old friends with Pneumonia. In fact, it’s been 3 years and I am overdue!!

  13. Karen says:

Being sick really bites. Don’t forget to eat things that are good for you (like Popsicles and Hostess products and Chocolate) and sleep a lot.

I read the first two chapters of your book and they really well written and riveting! I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you got a contract from a publisher just on the strength of those two chapters alone.

    Get better soon!

  14. Meleah says:

    Olga:

    CMK:

    Thank you. Im trying.

  17. sorry I had a small gigle about your Dad and the mask….:):)…I was told once that an overdose of Jack Daniels followed by passionate exual activity was a good cure for just about everything..unfortunately I ahve had only one of the two ingredients available recently…So I have a rotten cold….:):)

  18. Meleah says:

    Certain Bald Guy:

    xxoo. I miss you.

    Jodi:

    True Dat. Thank you

    Robert:

My dad is the BEST for a laugh.

As for being sick, work with what you have. Rock that JD till you feel better. xxoo

  19. Momo Fali says:

I miss you too. I am also heavily medicated due to a sinus infection…antibiotics, three different nasal sprays, TONS of ibuprofen to get rid of the ever-present headache, and an anti-nausea prescription to keep my from chucking it all up. Lovely.

I hope your Dad can make the ski trip! My husband had to come home early from a Canada fishing trip in September to take care of me (and the kids) when I got a concussion. I still feel guilty!

Oh, and yes…I am a mess. Illness and injuries are my life.

  20. Roshan says:

As a guy suffering on & off from bronchitis for the last 11 years, I sympathize with you. And you dad for the blindness.

  21. terri says:

    Your dad is SO CUTE!

  22. mikster says:

Rest, rest, rest…and stuff! (Oh…and you did look truly sorry in that picture of yourself.) 😉

  23. Meleah says:

    Momo:

Dood! Feel better! GAD! That suck donkey balls. At least you have BOSSY to look forward too!! 🙂

    Roshan:

That was his OWN damned fault! But thanks for the sympathy.

    Terri:

    Isn’t HE?!

    Mikster:

I am pulling 15-19 hour sleep stints. And YES I AM SORRY! (even if I don’t ‘look’ sorry enough!) hehehehe

  24. dawn says:

    Your poor DAD 🙁
Glad you are feeling a little better 🙂

  25. OMG, I’m a germ freak too!
I wash my hands so often. And right now, I’ll stay away from you (when you’re having flu) as if you’re a dynamite! No kidding!
I even wear the mask at HOME when husband got flu! Arh I hate getting flu, for I whine like a baby – not so good for my control-freak image! 🙂
Now I hope your dad make it to his ski trip… or else, my friend, I’m afraid your head will roll (ops, never mind, I’ll catch it!) 🙂

  26. Meleah says:

    Dawn:

I know. I feel terrible (for him) but I do feel a teeeny bit better.

    RMH:

Ha ha ha…You and my dad would get along great ..and should live in a bubble.

If my father misses this ski trip… I will just start PACKING MY BAGS and looking for a new place to live.

  27. Ricardo says:

My lungs are shot right now. I’m on prednisone and it blows. But I only have to be on it for a few weeks. But it’s nice to breath again and the coughing has died off a bit.

The pic of your dad is classic.

  28. Meleah says:

    awwww…. honey! Feel better!

    My Dad RULZ

  29. I used to live in Japan and a lot of them wear masks during the coldy season. The weird thing is that they also wear them in their cars….when they are driving alone. Hmmmm.

Well, I hope you’re feeling much better! I’m amazed you even had the energy to lift the laptop lid!

  30. Meleah says:

    Flowers:

Thats probably a WISE idea. I am feeling MUCH better now…thanks!
