Dear George Bush…

Just some last words, from PINK!

Dear Mr. President by Pink

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let’s pretend we’re just two people and
You’re not better than me
I’d like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We’re not dumb and we’re not blind
They’re all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter’s rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You’ve come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don’t know nothin bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Ohhh

How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You’d never take a walk with me
would you?

(I saw this on My Friends Blog Awake In Rochester and I just had to ‘borrow’ it.)

  7. Selma says:

I bet Bush has never heard this song and if he has, he didn’t know what it was about. It is a brilliant song. So glad the inarticulate one has gone. Buh-bye, Georgie!

  8. Rogelio says:

It’s like waking up from a really eeky bad dream…

Hoping for the best. It’s going to take a lot of work to undo what some morons did over 8 years in office… our children’s children will probably be the first to see a clean slate in the state of the union – if we don’t stray from the path we embark upon today.

  9. Manoj says:

I believe that he is going to write a book by himself about his time in the office, and his rationale for doing the things that he did. I’ve been told that he is an intelligent man, but whenever I hear him talk, I really wonder (like the ‘shame me once’ comment that he attempted to make!). I don’t think that he is a bad man – I do believe that he firmly believes in the choices that he has made (or the ones that Dick Cheney told him to make!), but I really am optomistic about the direction that this country is going in for the first time in a long while. An era of hope, peace, and if we can all work together, maybe some prosperity too!! Let’s hope for the best!!
Oh, and on a totally unrelated note, P!nk’s latest song on the charts “Sober” is also a really nice song!

  10. Meleah says:

    Selma:
    πŸ™‚

    Rog:
    Agreed.

    Manoj:
    I heart Pink.

“An era of hope, peace, and if we can all work together, maybe some prosperity too!! Let’s hope for the best!!”

    Exactly.

  11. Beth says:

Love Pink, she reminds me of Cher, she isn’t afraid to say what she thinks – gotta respect that! By the way, I posted something finally! thanks for all the warm wishes I just found today on my comments, back at you even if late.

  12. Helloooooo baby! πŸ˜‰

  13. Meleah says:

    Beth:
    Pink Rocks!
    You finally posted?
    YAY

    AIR:
    Hi Lover!

  14. WZRD9832 says:

I wonder if pink wrote this , I know she works with other songwriters . The lead singer from the band four none blondes linda perry has written songs for all the girls pink, jess agua , kelly clarkson . The reason for the ? on her album she has a song of the same name and is of the same topic although different in style same theme . DEAR MR. PRESIDENT WON,T YOU GIVE ME A FUTURE. Hope and peace can only be achieved if we seek it . This is AMERICA,S wake up call and I am answering. Hope all you do the same , for apart we are only one but together we all SHALL MOVE MOUNTAINS . awsome song
