I don’t think she did it. She’s been framed.

  2. Vdm17 says:

    Who dat?

  3. Mike says:

    Vdm17 stole my comment… 🙁

  4. Cheryl says:

That’s a lovely shot of a portrait and begs the question on everyone’s mind: who dat?

  5. Kristen says:

Yup! I want to know too!!

  6. Yep, exactly. Now you must tell us.

  7. Lucy says:

    Who is the beauty?

  8. laughing mom says:

Lovely. You can’t have portraits made like that anymore! What a treasure!

  9. Cheryl P. says:

See, you have us all curious out here if that is a portrait of a family member or someone special to you.   Does anyone do painted portraits anymore??? It would be lovely to have one of a person you cared for.

  10. Startraci says:

What a beauty! I have to say, I love nonamedufus’s comment!

  11. Ziva says:

    What a beautiful portrait. 🙂

  12. That’s a painting my grandfather Poppa Sye had done of his wife, my grandmother, Manga.
Sadly, she died on Mother’s day in 2007, from alzheimer’s.

  13. My Manga.
I miss her all the time.
She spoiled me rotten when I was a child.
    IN A GOOD WAY!

  14. It’s my grandmother.
    My mom’s mom.

    And I miss her dearly.

  15. Kristen…

Well, since you are NEW to my blog, here’s the WHOLE story on the woman in this painting.

  16. My grandmother, Manga!

  17. nonamedufus says:

I thought there was a resemblance. Pretty lady.

  18. Damn, have I never posted any photos of my gramma Manga?

Probably not, since she passed away around the time I really started getting serious about blogging.

    Oh well.

  19. Thank you, Laughing mom.

    And you’re right about that.

I cherish this portrait of my grandmother Manga SO VERY MUCH.

  20. Thank you Cheryl!

    It’s my gramma Manga.

If you’d like to know more about her, you can read her story here:

  21. Thank you, Ziva.

    I miss her. A lot.

    🙂

  22. What a beautiful painting! And a beautiful lady 🙂

  23. HeSaidHisTelephoneNumberWas911 says:

AA great photo of a classy portrait, of a classy lady. By a class act.

  24. It’s a remarkable painting, the way she blends into the murky background is surreal, but the work is striking and I’m glad you shared it.

  25. 00dozo says:

Your Manga must have been a very elegant lady – this portrait truly shows that.  Very nice!

    😉

  26. Selma says:

What a beautiful lady. She was very elegant. The artist really captured your grandmother’s essence!

  27. Beautiful woman.  It runs in your family!

  28. Mike says:

Great choice for today’s theme. I like.

  29. 🙂

My son looks a LOT like my Manga!

  30. Awwwww….
    Thank you!

  31. Anonymous says:

That’s a beautiful painting, Meleah. I’m sorry she’s no longer with you.

  32. Cadeaux says:

You were right – we both had the same idea.  🙂

Pretty lady…you come from good genes.  🙂

Do you know when this was done?  I’m figuring the 1970s?

  33. Yes good eye, Mariann!!

  34. I’m sorry. You didn’t tell me. I haven’t been here since this morning, but now I see and understand. I’m sorry for your loss. 🙁

  35. Anonymous says:

A beautiful portrait of a beautiful lady.  Definitely a work of art.

  36. Cheryl says:

Just tracked back and read your post from 2009. This is exactly how I feel about my Pepere (French-Canadian for grandfather) ~ my father’s dad.

  37. Nora Blithe says:

    Meleah!  She’s beautiful!
