Celebrity-Look-A-Likes

Some of you may already know that I love to people watch. As such, I have developed quite an eye for spotting Celebrity-Look-A-Likes. Even when it comes to my own family.

Take for instance my cousin Seth and his wife Ava.

Seriously.

They could pass themselves off as Christopher Meloni and Isabella Rossellini

We also have my Aunt Bea who may [or may not] look like an even older version of Jane Fonda.

And needless to say everyone already knows how My Father looks almost exactly like Tony Bennett.

But, as of late, I have taken this gift to spot ‘Celeb Look A Likes’ – outside of my family.

There was that time when I realized just how much Robert O’Ryan (stalker of Dancing with the Stars contestant Shawn Johnson) looked almost exactly like Mark Wahlberg circa the movie ‘Rock Star’

[*That is if Mark Wahlberg was a homeless person, and a psychopath.*]

And, then…

There was that time at my local country club wherein my son noticed what could have been ‘The Real Benjamin Button’.

This STILL makes me laugh out loud.

And lastly, this past Saturday night, while trying to attend the Tribal Blogs Slumber Party, I became very distracted.

You see, my very best friend [otherwise known as Amy The Bartender or ATB for short] and I possibly witnessed a real live version of ‘The Best’ – Celeb Look A Like.

*I’m sorry that this photo is VERY grainy and kind of out of focus. But that’s only because it’s pretty difficult to take a picture of an unsuspecting individual, across the room, of a dark bar, without a flash, and without getting noticed!

So tell me boys and girls…

1. Have you ever seen a celebrity look a like?

2. And if so, have you ever tried taking a photo of them, without their knowledge?

3. Have YOU ever been confused as a celebrity?

4. Does anyone in your family, look like a celebrity?

Well, I’ve been meaning to tell you this but….
You look a lot like my former boss then superboss for Training. She’s currently GM for Training in a company called Firstsource & based in Bangalore. You look so similar that for sometime it actually felt uncomfortable. Because I just love & adore you while she doesn’t have a sincere bone in her body and is so fake & full of herself plus she can be a real you know what term I am looking for, the female dog kind!!
She is nothing like you but you both look a lot alike.

  2. I always hear that I look like someone, but when I ask “who”, they all say “I don’t know” ! As far as seeing celeb look-alikes, I would say never. Then again, Hollydale is a one of a kind town 😉

  3. Jaffer says:

No no… I am sure I will get all of them wrong trying to spot your dad out from among Tony Bennett !

Now how about spotting lookalikes in the blogosphere ? That would be a ton of fun.

Could I pass as any of the bearded Hollywood directors … except with better hair ?

  4. Shieldmaiden1196 says:

I once had a woman gush to me for several minutes that I looked like Elizabeth Perkins.
(http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001610/) I look nothing whatsoever like Elizabeth Perkins.
I guess its better than looking like Marlin Perkins.
Yeah, that’s an old reference. I need more coffee.

  5. Lyndadesordi says:

I love this, Meleah!! But how about Uncle Ralphie and Eric Estrada? Definite look -a -likes!!!!!!!! <3

  6. Ron says:

OH. MY. GOD!!!!! I am totally flipping out at how MUCH your father looks like Tony Bennet – AMAZING!!

And also your cousin Seth looking like Eliot Stabler! Freakin’ incredible!!!!

Truly, girl….you are SO right on about these celebrity look a likes!

Funny you asked, because sometime during this past winter I saw a girl walking through my store that looked so much Anne Hathaway. Of course, I asked her, “Do people ever tell you that you look just like Anne Hathaway?” And she said, “Yes, always.”

hum…..all day long long, I kept wondering, “OMG, maybe it really WAS Anne Hathaway!”

A while back, I thought I spotted a Chuck Norris look a like but it turned out to be the real one.
I was once told I looked like Christopher Reeve, but I think she was just fishing for a bigger tip.
I honestly think you bear a resemblance to Leah Remini (aka King of Queens).

  8. Emergefit says:

I think about this often — too much. If we believe science, then we come from a gene pool of about 2,500 hominids, 70,000 years ago. A sample not much larger than a junior high population. No wonder so many people look like so many people…

  9. Really, Roshan?

People always tell me I look like Leah Remini
-from the tv show King Of Queens.

I might do a side by side comparison!

  10. Yes, it is. And so are YOU!

  11. Ahahahhaah.

I REALLY like that idea, Jaffer.
    And yes, YOU can!

  12. Ahahahahah!! Ahahahahaha!

  13. Oh, Aunt Lynda!
Now, you HAVE to send me an old photo of Uncle Ralph!

  14. Maybe it really WAS Anne Hathaway!
    🙂

  15. Agg:
    That’s what EVERYONE tells me!
Do you think I should do a side by side comparison of her and I?

  16. Hmmm. I did not know that!

  17. Jaffer says:

    Yes, you should.

  18. Okay. I’ll try to get to that this week!

  19. Steph says:

This was hilarious, Mereb. My mom used to get stopped on the street when she was in her 20s because people thought she was Katherine Ross (circa Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid). Your dad really does look amazingly like Tony B, and your aunt Bea looks like she’d be even more entertaining than Jane! 🙂

  20. Thanks Step! These photos were fun to make!
And I never knew that about you mom!

Great post, Meleah. Although I’m an observer of people, I’m sort of clueless when it comes to celebrities. So, the answer to 1 and 2 is no. Number 3 … hmmm. Before I started shaving my head, I had white hair on the sides and in a suit with glasses, I was sometimes told I look like Dick Cheney. I was flying home from a business meeting in Washington DC in first class, and a passenger boarding stopped next to my seat, staring at me. I gave him ten seconds, then said, “I’m not him.” He nodded and moved on. When my wife was younger, she looked a lot like Ingrid Bergman.

    Bud

  22. cmk says:

I don’t know if I’m just in my own little world or just clueless, but I NEVER seen the resemblance between two people–and this includes family. (The only people who I ALWAYS could see that looked alike were The Husband and his identical twin. ;)) Thank you for the pictures–I definitely can see the look-a-likes when they are pointed out to me. I guess I never look for celebrities–look-a-like or real–because I KNOW I would never be anywhere to actually see anyone famous. It doesn’t matter if I’m in Chicago, Vegas, Disneyworld, or the Twin Cities, I never will see a celebrity, so I don’t even try to find anyone. And, of course, the ONE TIME I think I saw a celebrity, I was the only one to see him. I thought I saw Brian Rafalski–a Red Wing (this is my obligatory hockey reference)–in the mall in Appleton. While that seems like a ridiculous place to see someone that famous, it wouldn’t have been impossible: He has his summer home 30 minutes away from Appleton. So, to make a long comment even longer, a celeb will have to come right up to me and introduce him/herself for me to believe what I’m seeing. 😀

  23. Oh, I LOVE Ingrid Bergman!!

  24. You crack me up CMK.

And, I believe it’s VERY possible you DID see Brian Rafalski in the mall!

  25. Mike says:

Ok, first of all, I cannot tell the difference between your Dad and Tony Bennett!

Also, you forgot one. ME, who apparently looks like Hugh Laurie. hahahahhaaha!
    http://www.weworkforcheese.com/2011/04/skiing-in-vermont-winter-is-finally-over/

  26. Wow.

    You’re scary. 🙂

I honestly can say “no” to all four questions, but I can wish that I looked like a celebrity.

  27. Nicky says:

I have an aunt who always used to tell me I looked like Brooke Shields. Mind you, she was half blind and too vain to wear glasses. I actually get Janeane Garofalo a lot. And Jepeto says Evangeline Lilly looks like me, but I think he just says that so he can get some 🙂

  28. HA! That’s right, Mike! You are the “HOUSE” of blogville!

  29. Great look-a-likes Meleah! Too bad Spy magazine folded, you could’ve done their “Separated At Birth” column. I’ve been confused on the internet for Bazooka Joe, although I have no idea why. A couple times last year while doing my bar crawl, someone would come up to me who knew me from following my blog. That was flattering and weird all at the same time.

  30. If you could look like any celebrity in the world, who would you want to be?

  31. Nicky,

I don’t see Janeane Garofalo AT ALL when I’ve seen photos of you!
    Not even a little.

    You are WAY pretty.

  32. Thanks, Marty!
I think I would be nervous if some one approached me because they recognized
    me from the internet!

  33. 00dozo says:

    1. Have you ever seen a celebrity look a like?
No, but I have seen one (a real celeb) in real life, that is.

    2. And if so, have you ever tried taking a photo of them, without their knowledge?
I actually did take a photo of the ‘real celeb’, but with his permission (and I only took the photo because the guy who was supposed to chickened out).

    3. Have YOU ever been confused as a celebrity?
I think I was, once. I don’t remember who I was confused with but I somehow remember it being somewhat insulting.
    😉

    4. Does anyone in your family, look like a celebrity?
Ha! I used to think my dad looked like Jerry Lewis, but then I was really young. My grandfather sorta reminded me of Lorne Greene. (Shit, I just dated myself … twice!)

  34. What celebrity??!!! I have to know!

  35. 00dozo says:

Heh, heh. Well, it’s a rather convoluted story (at least if it were up to me, it would be) but it involved the “Murphy” character in one of my recent posts – the celeb was Sylvester Stallone and I didn’t particularly like him at the time. Hmm … I guess I’ll have to do a post (thanks for the idea!).
    😉

  36. You Dad is much better looking that Tony Bennett, but can he sing?

  37. Ferd says:

Can your dad sing scat? It would be really funny if he had a little jazz routine and sounded just like Tony Bennet, cuz he sure looks like him! 🙂

  38. BK says:

I certainly have seen celeb look a like but not much. And ‘no,’ I have never tried taking their photos before. Anyone in my family looks like a celebrity? Definitely, one of my cousins. And I was back home in Singapore just over the weekend and I happened to notice another cousin of mine looks like another celeb 🙂

  39. Awesome! Looking forward to reading THAT!

  40. Thank you. And YES! I have it on video somewhere!

  41. I totally have a video of my father singing as Tony Bennett, with the real
Tony on the TV behind him!

  42. Who does your cousin look like?

  43. BK says:

One looks like a local actor in Singapore and the other looks like an actor in Hong Kong. 🙂

  44. Jayne says:

Your dad and Tony Bennett. Amazing. Now if you could just sell the movie rights to your family you’d already have all the casting done.

  45. Anonymous says:

Yes. Definitely. Let your posse decide if it is true/accurate.
There are a couple of shots out on IMDb that look pretty darn close.

  46. Nicky says:

Why, thank you! I think I may also have to post some side-by-sides and see if it’s true or not!

  47. Anonymous says:

Hahaha, your Aunt Bea does look like Jane Fonda. I love it.

When I was younger people called me Little Oprah, I HATED IT!!!!!!!!! Ugh. Even in my yearbook they were signing to Oprah.

And I think you look like Leah Remini, but less annoying. Wait…. you are not annoying at all. So, you look like Leah, but un-annoying. Whatever. You get it, right?
