Autumn

The scent ofย  burning leaves, fireplaces, and hot chocolate. Cozy sweaters, fleece pajamas, and crispy air on my face. Colorful scarves, rosy cheeks, and curling up in a blanket with a good book. Are just a few of the reasons, I love the Fall Season.

Ah, yes.

[*disclaimer: I did NOT take this photo. But, looking at it gives me a sense of peace.*]

So, my dear readers,ย  what do YOU *love*, or *hate*,ย  about this time of year?

  1. I agree. The fall does NOT last long enough!

  2. Roshan says:

Although I love what I have seen of Autumn or Fall in the west (we don’t get anything like this where I live), somehow I always associate it with horror movies!!

  3. Ahahahhahaha!
    You’re right Roshan.
Bad things always seem happen when its foggy/misty in horror movies!

  4. Lucy says:

Fall is great but it seems too short and then the worst is right around the corner, winter!

  5. Gina says:

What a fantastic picture Mel. So many visions popped into my head. I love when that happens, ’cause then you get all those gooey, warm, fuzzy feelings… Okay, I’ll stop before I go too far.
Just doin’ a drive by, wanted to let you know I’m thinking of you.
Semester’s almost over and I’ll have a month off before the next one starts, so hopefully we can re-connect then.

    xoxo

  6. I DO love the feeling of the cold air … the crisp kind on your face that isn’t TOO COLD… like football game air… but I miss summer more than you know! Hmmm maybe some s’mores by a firepit will help… yup, that is what will do it!

  10. Oh man, I LOVE s’mores!

  11. You lucky girl you to live in a country with 4 seasons. All I get is heat and rain and heat and rain … siggghhh … Happy weekend Meleah ๐Ÿ˜€

  12. I do love the seasons. And that sense of renewal!
Happy weekend to you too Nick!

  13. Gina says:

I know! Almost there. I just wanna run away for that month and have fun. No wonder I didn’t do this when I was eighteen! How in the hell do these kids do this? I could not have been this responsible at that age! Kudos to all those college kids out there!

Okay, back to fall…How ’bout laying around all day on the couch on a Saturday, just watching great movies one after another, eating chocolate fondue with bananas and strawberries and cherries? Sounds like paradise to me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

and i was about to ask if you took that photo. it’s gorgeous. i’m down with autumn, but i hate winter. hate it!

  15. Gina, that sounds like the most perfect day EVER. Seriously!

And, yeah, I have no idea how 18 year olds handle college, but I think
alcohol might play a pivotal role!

  16. I wish I knew WHO took that photo.
    WHERE it was taken
And, with WHAT kind of camera!

And yeah, let’s NOT even have winter this year!

As a pro photog I have some GUESSES about the image. It may have been shot at f11 and 125. Lens about 85mm. Time either 1 hr b4 sundown or 1 hr after sunup (most likely cause no peeps). Maybe shot on a medium format camera (hasselblad ?) Irregardless, nice image. Quote…. “In photography, the least important element is the camera.” Ansel Adams.

Fall, and the ensuing seasons are to me… redolent of birth, life, death and the enduring circle of life.

  18. Awake In Rochester says:

Beautiful photo! Care to take a walk among the leaves? ๐Ÿ˜‰

As a California-Arizonan, the season doesn’t mean autumn colors but it does mean it cools off enough for frequent trips to Arizona to see the grandkids. It means the California Fire season is over. It means I can wear sweatshirts, which I love. It means I can sit in the park reading without roasting. It means some rainy days and clouds in the sky. Less smog. Green hills that were brown a few months ago. Wildflowers. My favorite season, even in in Californiazona.

  20. Sheila Sultani says:

My very, very favorite time of year. I take pictures every morning when the sun is coming up and I’m outside with the mutt, the trees look so gorgeous. None of mine look that pretty though.

  21. Yeah, this has to be my favorite time of the year too.
And I also cant take photos this good!

I love this photo. It really does look peaceful and, oh, just a little bit chilly. I love everything about autumn. It’s my favorite season. Unfortunately, I don’t get much of a real autumn in the southern states, but maybe that’s why I long for it at other times of the year. It never lasts long enough!

  23. I *heart* the fall so very much!

  24. Teeni says:

That really IS a gorgeous photo! Even if you didn’t take it, you did post it so we all get to enjoy it! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the crisp cool air of the fall season. It seems to be a cleansing or sorts before the winter makes everything dormant and then spring comes along to revive everything again. Ahhhhhh.

  25. Gotta *love* that sense of renewal!

  26. Mikewj says:

That’s truly beautiful. I just love damp pavement.

  27. MomZombie says:

I am madly, deeply in love with Autumn.

  28. Selma says:

That photo is glorious. I love autumn too. Such a beautiful time of year!

  29. Anonymous says:

I love that there is a hint of weather different from the “usual.”. I like being able to wear sweaters and maybe slippers. The air is different, the light here is brilliant, and as much as we don’t really have trees whose leaves change color, it’s still beautiful.

  30. Jules says:

Oh my goodness that picture is gorgeous! I like the autumn season though it makes me a bit sad that winter is not far away.

  31. I’m not too psyched about winter either!

  32. Mike says:

Awesome picture. I like looking at the changing leaves and drinking hot chocolate, but I’m definitely not a fan of the colder weather.

  33. It’s FREEZING here lately, and I am NOT *happy* about it!
