Staring At The Blank Page Before Me

It seems that after taking an ‘Unintentional Blog Vacation’ while my parents were away in Jamaica last week, ‘I’ve Lost My Blogging Mojo’. Seriously, I am having a very difficult time creating anything truly worthy to share with ya’ll that does NOT involve ‘Personal Private Family Matters’ and/or ‘Inside Jokes’ based upon my ‘Real Life Friends’ from the infamous KHCC. And, I can’t even conjure up one of those ‘Obligatory Posts’ just to fill this here space.

However, now that my parents have returned home, some of my ‘Extra Responsibilities’ have been lifted and I am back to my ‘Regular Routine’. And that means I will have plenty of ‘Real Time’  to dedicate to my beloved ‘Internet’ by reading/commenting on all of your blogs. And just maybe I will find some much needed ‘Inspiration’ and/or stumble upon a good ‘Idea’ to write about!

In the meantime, I will also be focusing my attention to another writing project, but, I don’t really want to discuss it just yet, for fear of jinxing myself!

  • I hate when I have nothing to write about it. Lately, I've been thinking of things here and there, but by the time I get home and get around to writing, they don't seem funny anymore, or I've lost interest. I know Julia (my fiancee) reads your blog a lot, though, so I thought I'd check it out. Judging from what I've seen so far, you don't have anything to worry about. Consider me entertained. :)
  • Thank Mike. I love Julia. She is such a great person! And welcome to my blog. Im glad you are entertained! :)

writing funks happen. i'm just now at the point where i feel like writing again. i do have bloggeria and not one depend. just haven't posted anything. look forward to whatever you have coming up.
  • I can't even WAIT for YOU to start blogging again, in addition to your photo blog! Love you! xoxoox
  • ladybanana
It happens to us all to some extent I'm sure!
  • Agreed!
  • michellegartner
I( think most bloggers have that problem in the summer months. I did a few light posts this month- just to let people know I was here. My mom was out here vacationing from the 4th and left yesterday- so I am in the same boat as you. I hope this week I will be inspired to write something semi decent myself. :)
  • Let's hope WE both think of something to write this week!
    xoxoxo
  • Roshan
Even u saying that you can't find the words to blog has got you all these comments. Wonderful & brilliant you.
  • Thanks! That's because I am ALWAYS so supportive of all of YOU!
    :)
  • Yeah, well. I had a writing project too -- and mentioned it -- and then the project went nowhere, so you are right not to mention it. I admire you for all the writing you do off-site, so give yourself a break, sister. I'm all kinds of blank pages right now and I don't even care. I'm exhausted from work and just about the last thing I can think of doing is blogging. So there!
  • Thank you Kathy! Seriously!
    xoxoxoxo
  • BK
Welcome back and good to see you around and going your round. I believe we will all go through blanks like this. All these should pass. :)
  • Thanks BK!
    :)
  • I have so much of stuff I want to write about but cannot seem to find the time to write them. Maybe I need a vacation just so I can blog ... LOL!
  • That makes TWO of us!
  • Ok, but is this writing project in ADDITION to your novel? Like, the query letter for an agent because you already finished your novel??? :)
  • I wish!
  • It's tough when you take a break like that and have a hard time coming up with things to say. I took a little break from actual writing to host excerpts from the charity anthology we were putting out last Friday, so I was really looking forward to diving back into the actual blog writing this week. Here's to lots of creative ideas to you!
  • Im going to blame it on the heat/humidity. My brain is officially cooked!
  • I find inspiration in two places:

    1. The bookstore - I eventually find something worth reading that strikes a cord or two.
    2. The beach - there's nothing more peaceful and more refreshing than walking in the sand or down the pier, disconnected from everything, to enjoy a good sunset. Leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to take on the the world for some reason.
  • Maybe a book store. I am NOT a fan of going to the beach.
    Unless Im on vacation.
  • Unless you're on vacation and there's mojitos involved?
  • Just on vacation!
  • Ooh, I'm excited about your upcoming writing project!

Sometimes a blog-cation is the best thing for revving up the creative juices. I was recently on a forced vacation from my laptop (and I can ONLY write on my laptop), and even tho I missed my blogging activities, the break did me a world of good. I know it will for you too!
  • Okay. I am going to believe you JD!
And, I know EXACTLY how you felt SANS your laptop.
I would have been in the fetal position spoon feeding myself ice cream, and
    sobbing uncontrollably!
  • I think all of us lose a little mojo from time to time, but as an aspiring writer you'll know that the way to deal with it is to work through it! Now you're parents are back, you can do it. I know you can do it! ;)
  • Aw. Thanks Jay!
    xoxox
  • I usually have nothing to say but that doesn't stop me!
  • What? I think you write some GREAT posts!
Otherwise I wouldn't be reading your blog every day!
  • slyde
you have nothing to say but get 49 comments so far?

we must all really love you :)
  • And that's because I LOVE all of YOU!
  • By looking at your title I think the reason you haven't been online is because you've been too busy watch "The Hills" marathon. Now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day.

    I'm glad you're back!!
  • Oh God! I do love me some TRASHY TV! But I am NOT a fan of The Hills!

The Real Housewives of New Jersey and almost anything on the E!Channel but
    NEVER The Hills! Ahahahahahahahahahahah
  • Noemi
I totally know what you're going through - I think we all do. In any case, waiting on your next project! ;)
  • :)
  • I've been feeling a bit like that too. I think I'm just a bit tired. I think it's natural to run out of inspiration from time to time. Best of luck with your new writing project!
  • Thank you Selma!

  • Ron
There has to be something in the blogosphere because I've been hearing so many people say the same thing right now.

And yes, I too go through this at times.

But, I'm soooooo glad to hear you're inspired with another writing project! You GO, girl!

So, do what feels right for you. Blogging will always be here when your inspiration returns.

    You're fans will await you!

    X
  • Aw. Thanks for your support Ronnie C!

I'd like to hear more about the Personal Private Family Matters, please. The more personal and private the better, actually. I have no life of my own, so I kind of depend on you to make me feel loved.
  • Ahahahahah.
I'd love to help you out, but unfortunately, I've been sworn to secrecy!
  • HeSaidHisTelephoneNumberWas911
With all that you've had going on, it's no wonder you've hit a dry spell. Just like WindowsVista, we need to re-boot from time time time, to get things going again. OH... that's right... you're part of the Apple core. Ahh, never mind. Don't worry, it will come to you soon enough. And I'm glad to hear you're maintaining a "no kill" policy.
  • Ahahahah! Thanks Jim!
  • I know what you can do! Put that note on the couple's car... then take a video and do a video blog about it! :)
  • AHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH
  • Dry spells seem to be the order of the day. I'm going through a period of creative constipation myself. I marvel at these people who can turn out good stuff every single day -- and I wish them great harm. ;)
  • Ahahahhahahahaa!

I think it has a lot to do with the weather.
I seriously can NOT concentrate in this kind of heat & humidity!
  • Take your time. the words will come back, I'm sure.
  • I hope so!
  • Oscar
Hell, half the time I write I start with no Ideas. take your time my friend - See you soon!
  • Okay!
  • There is nothing more intimidating than a blank page. I am sure that something amusing will happen shortly :).
  • Lets hope so!
  • Seems that a few bloggers feel this way at the moment, so you're not alone. Maybe it's the time of year ;)
  • I think its the humidity! Its been 103+ degrees and stifling!
  • Ooh! That's hot!!
  • It's been UNBEARABLE!
  • I'm going through one of those times too. I actually considered taking a picture of the two dead things the cat left on my back deck and making a post out of it. Hey, it's filler.
  • Totally do that! I am probably going to put up a photo post too!
  • moooooog35
    Some ideas:

    1) You can discuss what you did during down time
    2) You can talk about times you've jinxed yourself
    3) Please substitute 'down time' and 'jinxed yourself' with random terms about masturbation and tell us about those

    You're welcome.
  • THANKS MOOG!!!
  • peedee
Lost mojo seems to be going around a lot lately. I'm getting bored of writing about my kid and dogs. lol Something has to give!!!
You'll be back in your game soon. And I'll be here waiting. No worries momma!
  • Thanks Love. I know I will be back in the swing of things in no time. And I can't wait to make my Internet Rounds. I've missed all of you so very much!
    xoxoxo
  • agg79
    Mel,

You can make a trip to the store or the bathroom sound like an adventure.
Even your most mundane blogs are entertaining for us!
    Bring it on!

Glad you are back but we missed you.
  • Thank you for saying THAT! ~ You. Rule.
  • And here I had visions of you going through some kind of "plant watering crises" with your parents on vacation and having to trek all over town (which I know you love to do!) having to find the exact same plants to replace the ones that you'd been "caring for"! I'm actually relieved that it's just a bit of writer's block and not a case of flora-cide! :-)

Missed you tons, glad you're back
    xoxo
  • Nicky!
I think the word flora-cide is HYSTERICAL!
And yes. There was a lit of driving people around such as my son & Poppa Sye
And yes, there was a LOT of plant watering going on over here.
And I cooked dinner practically every single night.
But I didn't KILL any people or plants! So I guess I did a good job!
    xoxo
  • It's always hard to come back to writing after you've been away longer than you're used to. But I'll bet even this short post is enough to get the gears in motion again. I wouldn't worry. You'll be back at it before you know it.
  • Thanks Terri.
And you're totally right. I am ready to start writing again.
But, I want to catch up with the Internet and all of YOUR blogs FIRST!
  • Dear Meleah,
All wells have to be refreshed! I have weeks when --where are the ideas-- then I am teeming with them later and can't keep up!

Something will gig you, or, you'll just need to go out and CREATE events that mean something. Do what works for you!

    Give yourself a break,
    Ann T.
  • Thanks Ann T! I've had a few ideas, but I just cant seem to WRITE them!
  • Drowsey Monkey is back - have you heard ?
  • Shut Up! YAY!!!!
  • Oh I ain't shutting up ! You are missing out - she's averaging a-post-a-day !
  • OMG! I'll be sure to visit her blog this week!
  • Don't sweat it, Meleah, you'll be back to fine blogging form soon, enjoy your break!
  • I am working on SOMETHING right now!
  • I think we all go through those 'staring at the blank page before us' moments! Miss you but totally understand!
  • At least I will be around this week to comment on everyone else's blogs! xoxo
  • Marsha
I have been blogging on and off since 2004. Sometimes I have nothing to say...for a very long time. I think I am on a little dry spell.
  • I've also been blogging for the last four years, and yes, I am totally having a dry spell. So frustrating!
  • MikeWJ at TooManyMornings
Both of you: Get liquored up and started pounding the keys. You'll feel brilliant, and maybe you will be. It's worked for writers for hundreds of years now.

    You're welcome.
  • Hmmm. That might NOT be a bad idea!
