Happy Thanks-Taking A Vacation!

Every year, my mother and father host Thanksgiving. It is one of the few times a year my family all gets together to joke, laugh, make fun of each other and we get that moment when we get share our lives that are sometimes very disconnected. Plus, we all get to enjoy Ron-Gourmet meal unlike any other. This year, my mother and father have decided to take a vacation, during the week of Thanksgiving, and go to Florida for the holiday, thus, disbanding my entire family.

Umm…. Huh? What am I supposed to do? (One of my other “charming” qualities is my sick addiction to my parents. I talk to my mother easily 5 times a day and I work with my father so I see him 8 hours a day every day.  Oh, and I live in the same complex, on the same street as them, o.o miles from their house). So… Obviously I was not happy with the “We aren’t having Thanksgiving, we are going to Florida” announcement. But, I would have to adjust. Right?

I thought I was the only one in my family that was upset about the no traditional family thanksgiving. I mean, My brother Adam and his wife Traci have her family to attend to. My other brother Lee and his wife Maya have her family to attend to. They both live in PA so they wont have to deal with the traffic either to get to my mom and dads, so, they are pretty much content with this years arrangements.

But, I am single, with a 10 year old boy JCH and my 86-year-old grandfather Sye (on my moms side). I was planning on taking the two of them to my uncle Victor’s  house for the great Italian feast, but, regrettably, my grandfather does not want to partake.

That’s when the sudden panic attack hit me. I can’t leave grandpa alone to go to Uncle Vic’s. Mom and Dad will be in FLA it’s my job to take care of grand-pa while they are away! What if he was all alone on Thanksgiving? And what if he DIED? What if this is his last Thanksgiving and no one was with him? Hell no! I have to be with grandpa on Thanksgiving

Now, how do I make someone MORE stubborn than ME agree to spend the day with someone AS stubborn as me?

Then, I found out, I am not alone in the “What the f*ck is wrong with you guys for leaving us on the holiday” tude.

My grandmother EV (on my fathers side) is soooo pissed off that my parents have decided to forego the Thanksgiving season she has refused to divulge any information to my parents about where she WILL be spending the holiday.

For those of you that  know my Gramma Ev, you will get how funny this IS, for those of you that don’t know Ev, imagine a very angry, hostile, 4 foot tall, gravely voice (like shes been smoking since birth) 82 year old Italian woman who has dedicated her life to family functions and cooking. Or, jut look at her picture, it says it all about her personality. Or just watch THESE videos.

My dad went to visit Gramma Ev, to check on her as she hasn’t been feeling well at all lately. My father asked in normal conversation, “So, mom, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?”

(this was her reply, and it is the best answer I ever heard…)

“What’s the difference? YOU WONT BE HERE! You don’t give a f*ck. It’s none of your business. I’m not telling you sh*t,”

Rock on EV.

ROCK ON!

OH… AND, THIS IS HOW WE ENDED UP CELEBRATING THANKSGIVING.
