After The Debates

I know. I know.

Who needs MORE politics right now? No one.

*sorry*

However, after I watched the final debates in sheer horror, I wanted to say something well thought and eloquent. But, it seems as if my nephew & niece have beat me to it.

We are TEAM BARACK. Our Mommy and Daddy are supporting TEAM BARACK as well because they want us to grow up in a world where women have reproductive rights, gay people have equal rights, our troops get to come home from Iraq, alternative forms of fuel are researched, stem cell research is promoted, and we are taught about sex and contraception in school along with evolution and science.  Last but not least, they hope we are given the chance of growing up in a world where our vice president does not think that she can see Russia from her bedroom window. Don’t forget to register to vote! We only have 16 and 15 years respectively before we can exercise that important right ourselves! Love, Jackson and Zaibryn”

Those are some smart kids.

Oh yeah, and then there is always this:

And that’s all I have to say about that.

This is too f’ing funny. I do a wicked Palin BYW. I need to figure out how to do audio on my site….

  2. Jaffer says:

Aw Jackson and Zaibryn so cute together. :o)

Now going back to read what they said …

Aw Jackson and Zaibryn so cute together. :o) …

  3. Although I don’t agree fully with the kids list. I’ll hold up the Obama banner. (I still wish it was Hillary.)

  4. Trée says:

Team Barack. I like the sound of that. Put me in coach. 🙂

  5. Meleah says:

    Brenda Starr:
    I know!
You are always late or last!
    LOL
I would LOVE to see/hear your “Palin”
(but nobody does it better than Tina!)
    xxoo
PS: When will your new site be up and running so that I may STALK you?

    Jaffer:

  6. Jules Joyce says:

    Meleah,

Don’t apologize for talking politics 🙂 Keep the discussion going.

I wish my darling nephews and niece would say the same good things as yours are saying!

    Obama!

  7. Meleah says:

    Jules Joyce:
I just HAD to post SOMETHING.
I sincerely fear what will happen if McCan’t gets into the White House.

    Dazd:
Maybe this will make you laugh….
(I found this on Lady Banana’s site)

Whether Democrat or Republican, I think you’ll get a kick out of this!

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, ‘What is Politics?’

Dad says, ‘Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The President.

Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.

We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.

The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.

And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.’

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.

He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.

So the little boy goes to his parent’s room and finds his mother asleep.
Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny’s room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny.

He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy says to his father, ‘Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.’

The father says, ‘Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.’

The little boy replies, ‘The President is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.

  8. paisley says:

meleah, i am thrilled that you have chosen your candidate and based on his stance on the issues.. i feel only those that have taken the time to get to know the candidates and make an informed decision should vote…

that is one of the very important reasons i choose not to vote.. i know nothing more than i have learned about either candidate than what i have heard via campaign infomercials or media blurbs in the last few months,, and i just don’t believe i can make an informed decision under those circumstances… that is of course not the only reason,,, but it is one of the important ones,, at least to me..

  9. I’m not happy with any of the candidates…..I may just STAY in Norway!!!!

  10. Way too funny… But so true… So True…

  11. tesco says:

I kinda wanna keep the money I earn. Abortion will never be illegal. There will always be troops in the middle east. Alternative fuels have been on the table for YEARS. There’s already stem cell research.

I think the “Russian view” was a figure of speech.

    What else?

Maybe you just want a black president?

  12. Meleah says:

    Paisley:
For ME it IS about “The Issues”. Period.

    Olga:
    LOL

    Urban:
    I know.
    And THAT’S what scares me!

    Tesco:
    Maybe I want a candidate that doesn’t say PRO-ABORTION.
No one is PRO ABORTION. Its PRO CHOICE.
I dont know too many women that say, “Hey, what are you doing this weekend? Lets go get abortions.”

*did you watch the last debate?*

This is NOT a racial issue.

    For Me.

Apparently and unfortunately, it IS a racial issue for some.

    And that saddens me.

I also do not want a candidate with a running mate who winks at the audience.
According to the British Press: Had a male candidate with a similar reputation for attractive vapidity made such a brazen attempt to flirt his way into the good graces of the voting public, it would have universally noted, discussed and mocked. Palin, however, has single-handedly so lowered the standards both for female candidates and American political discourse that, with her newfound ability to speak in more-or-less full sentences, she is now deemed to have performed acceptably.

    *gag*

Palin is a woman who can’t even tell the truth about the most quotidian and public details of her own life, never mind about matters of major public import. In her only vice-presidential debate, she was shallow, mendacious and phoney. What kind of maverick, after all, keeps harping on what a maverick she is? That her performance was considered anything but a farce doesn’t show how high Palin has risen, but how low we all have sunk.

If & When McCant kicks the bucket in the White House, do you think she is CAPABLE of running our country with ‘YouBetcha’ and ‘Winking’?

    I do not.

  13. Lee says:

In the modern era, it is almost impossible to come up with candidates that I agree with 100% of the time. This year is no different. I’m an odd duck, I think, because I’m a fiscal conservative, and a social liberal(progressive sounds better). But not voting because I’m not happy with the choices is not an option. If I don’t vote, there is a chance that the candidate I most disagree with will win the election. And there is always someone that I am diametrically opposed to.

It is almost impossible to have all of the facts about any candidate. But, because of the Internet, we have a lot more information available to us that helps us be informed. Being an informed voter takes a fair amount of effort. My wish is that more Americans would make the effort to be informed. Not voting because you don’t have enough facts is a wise decision, and more people should probably make it. But if you don’t vote, in my opinion you also forfeit the right to criticize whoever wins.

  14. Can your family adopt me?

  15. Meleah says:

    Lee:
“Being an informed voter takes a fair amount of effort. My wish is that more Americans would make the effort to be informed. Not voting because you don’t have enough facts is a wise decision, and more people should probably make it. But if you don’t vote, in my opinion you also forfeit the right to criticize whoever wins.”

    AMEN.

The ignorant are what kill me. I was very ignorant for a very long time, and I am NO expert by any means. But, this is the 1st election I feel I MUST VOTE.

    Silver:
    Of Course!!

  16. tesco says:

I have serious doubts about Barack’s ability to run anything… he’s a lawyer for god’s sake.. that should say it all. As a matter a fact he was so good at lying he actually taught it as well 😛
I honestly don’t really care for any of the candidates, but Barack just really seems like a joke.
And for the record, I would LOVE a black president.. it would show how far we’ve finally come as a country.. the dems just once again chose the wrong guy.

  17. Epiphany says:

Well, I’m with you, Mereb. Based soley on the issues. I could care less what race or sex anyone is, except for the utter embarassment on the female gender that Palin continues to inflict. For God’s sake, the word is N-U-C-L-E-A-R not “nucular”. Ugh!!

  18. tesco says:

Philly people can’t say it either 😀

I agree that you should lean on your issues as well. The fact is, the country is now run by Democrats anyway so it doesn’t really matter what blow-hard, lying runt politician scumbag is sitting in the white house. I just hate that so many people follow this guy like sheep… he’s so blowing smoke up everyone’s as*

  19. tiffany says:

your best friend is voting McCain Palin!!!!!!!!!! NOBama!!!

  20. Diamond says:

I’m on “Team Barack” also, and must say that last debate just left me sitting and staring. This is the final countdown, Obama all the way!
    (What cuties, by the way!)

  21. I have no idea about who is much more suited to be the most powerful man in the world but if your politicians are the same as ours, then we’re all doomed … LOL! On a personal note, Obama looks to be the better man, though what do I know 😀

  22. Meleah says:

    Tesco:
Thanks for sharing your opinion. We can AGREE to DISAGREE.
    xxoo

    Tiffany:
    I know. I know.
    *sigh*
    boooooooooo

    Diamond:
    That’s What’s Up!

    Nick:
    We are all doomed.
    That’s for sure.

    STEPH!!:
I know. HELLO. Where did they learn grammar?
    Or did they?
Geez. I can form a better sentence.
She scares me the most of all.
And if I have to hear the word “Maverick” one more time, I’m simply going to flip out “You Betcha”
    *wink*

Palin, has single-handedly lowered the standards for female candidates.
What a disservice she has done for all women.

  23. haha good one, and I AGREE WITH YOU!

Actually, if one takes a step back, gets away from the TV ads etc, and thinks solely on what other foreign countries are going to view the US after this President, the choice is obvious. Palin is a joke, and the United States really can’t afford that kind of joke on the international stage. Really.

  24. Meleah … “I think you look fabulous today”. (smile)

If I wrote something else here, it would be a LONG and dull book !

  25. Sorry, I agree with Olga… Hopefully by voting Independent, my freedom to criticize them and write comical political satire is guaranteed by the Constitution.;)

Hopefully, Senator Speedy Speedcat Hollydale will deliver on his campaign promise of more comedy to help us survive the next four years! 😀

  26. Well Meleah, you KNOW what I think about your little kidlets’ (and your) choice. 🙂 Thanks for “coming out.”

It makes me sad when someone says they won’t vote because they don’t know the facts, but I did the very same thing for many years, until I became so horrified at what BushCo has done to our country, and to other people’s countries. So, the torture, secret renditions, loss of our privacy, the Cheney & Bush powergrab, the fanatical religious ideology that drives the Neoconservatives, the illegal invasion of a sovereign country based on manufactured evidence, under the auspices of “Democracy” when it is only about gaining permanent military presence and power in an oil-filled region, the huge waste of billions of dollars in an illegal, immoral war when millions of American children are uninsured and now we are facing at least a deep recession, if not a depression…it is these things that moved me to educate myself. And with an RSS news feeder with feeds from all sides of the argument, I became quickly informed enough to vote.

America isn’t run by the Democrats currently. We do not have a veto- or filibuster-proof majority in the house or the senate. But even when we do achieve that, America won’t be run by the Democrats. America is run by corporations and their lobbyists (McCain has more than 170 corporate lobbyists on his campaign staff), who contribute to all politicians from both sides of the aisle in order to influence them. While Barack Obama has not taken corporate money for his presidential campaign, he has taken just as much corporate money as his other Senate cohorts. Look at the way he voted away our rights to privacy on the FISA bill (influenced by the communications industry lobby). He will also never bring true socialized medicine to America (so all of you guys that are trembling at such a perilous thought can just freakin’ relax), because he has taken too much money from the insurance lobby.

So, my eyes are wiiiiide open as I vote for Barack Obama. But a McCain/Palin win would be a disaster. And Obama has demonstrated an incredible maturity in managing his focused and calm campaign and galvanizing the hopes and dreams of the American people to rise up and get involved. That is true leadership in action, and it is one of the many things we so desperately need from the next president.

  27. Rogelio says:

Where’s Richard Pryor when you need him? I’d happily vote for None Of The Above… sigh…

  28. EDDIE says:

john stossel tonight on 20 /20 watch .

Sorry to say 3years exp. 18 wich spent running for prez not much of a selling point .

How did this mess happen is the real issue . People wake up it is time for a revolution , not a huge fan of bill maher , he was on larry king last night some comedic democratic dinner for canidates mccain only rep have to say he was pretty funny check it out .

Back to maher , he said he cannot believe the people are not out in the streets with pitchforks .As I posted on one of your comments the british commander said while we were getting to the end of the war I CANNOT BELIEVE WE ARE GETTING BEAT BY A BUNCH OF FARMERS WITH PITCHFORKS (patriot mel gibbson) REVOLUTION .

As for this election CORRUPTION AT ITS FINEST , the democratic party is the reason this mess is happening 2 years they have been the majority in congress ( BARNEY FRANKS , DOWD , CHUCK SHUMER ALL DEMS ) They knew fannie and freddie were failing and that it was going to be big ( newyork times article 1999 clintons passing of the subprime housing loans ) why know? they kept telling everybody it was fine well low and behold there is an election what better way to get there guy electded before all of this who was in the lead shocking , this is all so prez clinton can have a legacy , because if they dont we will have to finD a cause for why all this happened ( on another note clinton also dergulated the oil inds.to foriegn investors hence oil they nicknamed it the ENNRON loophole bill)

SO IF YOU THINK THAT A DEM PREZ AND A DEM SITTING CONGRESS IS WHAT WE NEED THEN GO FOR IT THEY WILL STEAMROLL THIS COUNTRY INTO A DEPRESSION ( look close at barrack policies taxes) I TRULY FEEL SORRY FOR THE NEXT GENERATIONS . ENOUGH

( teach your niece and nephew history tel them they are the new cause dont let tem fall into the complacency that we are all in that when they feel they are being mistreated to stand up fight for wich is right for the are the future ( LET US HOPE THIER FUTRE IS BRIGHT )

SORRY for rambling but we should be all pissed off how some 3000 (congress ) to some 350 mil plus of us that they can bring us to the brink without being held responsible .

    PEACE E

P.S IF THE NEXT PREZ DOES NOT DO HIS JOB IMPEACH HIS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a denizen of America’s, lower income middle class, Republicans (seems almost a contradiction in terms) , I have come to view this election as a win-win for those of my voting persuasion. If my candidate wins (McCain)… then yipee! If Obama wins, then I look toward the redistribution of wealth (not mine… I have none… I mean your wealth) from all you BIG INCOME fatcats… My kids will be going to school on your dime… Thanx you guys…

So glad to read of your wise choice.

If you really want the up to date scoop on Sarah Palin, take a look at http://mudflats.wordpress.com blog. These are folks in Alaska who know her very well. For the past several weeks, the mainstream media has been about 3 weeks behind in reporting things I’ve read on mudflats. Of course, you rarely see any of this on fox.

  41. Meleah says:

    sauerkraut :
Im going to be so glad when this is all over.
That is as long as McCain looses.
