30 Days Of Photography | Day 8: Texture

Day 8 - Texture

This is our kitchen table.

It’s made up of several different textures including: mosaics, smashed China plates, and mirrors.

Pretty cool, yes?

  1. It’s from Horchow 12 years ago!

  2. YUP!!

“and it’s heavy like a mofo.”

    EXACTLY.

  3. Yeah but there’s usually a table cloth ON it so no one ever notices how awesome it really is!

  4. You’re welcome!

I think one of the “rules” for the challenge was ONE photo per post. At least that’s what the old rules used to be.
So……. I decided to post the extra photos in the comments just in case people wanted to check it out.

  5. I don’t even want to imagine THAT one, Babs!

    lolz

  6. Ahahahahha! You make me laugh, Agg!

  7. shadowrun300 says:

WAY cool! My table has lots of textures too – spilled fingernail polish, stuck on cereal crumbs, dents and scratches. Yours is much prettier!

  8. OMG I want that sooooo BAD!!!! That is so freaking GORGEOUS!!!

  9. mikewjattoomanymornings says:

What the what?! How was that done? It’s a very cool idea, and would also be a way to memorialize those wonderful, terrifying early marriage arguments in which crockery gets smashed.

  10. Linda R. says:

That is SO COOL, unique, colorful and beautiful. What a lovely table to sit down to, and you never need a tablecloth.

  11. “and you never need a tablecloth”

That’s what I keep telling my mom but she keeps putting tablecloths ON it anyway!

  12. Small Town Mommy says:

That table is so awesome. I absolutely love it.

  13. Jay of The Depp Effect says:

That table is gorgeous. I do love mosaic tiled tables, done well. Did someone in your family make this one?

  14. No. My mom found this at Horchow about 12 years ago!

  15. No, it’s not pretty cool — it’s super cool and gorgeous, too! I want that table.

I love your photo and I love this table! I was about to ask if you made it, but then I read that you bought it at Horchow’s. I could have make this for you, Meleah! You know I’m the artsy type! When I get moved, I might have to make you some coasters for your martinis!

  17. “I might have to make you some coasters for your martinis!”

    HELL YES!!

  18. ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MY MOTHER:

I did NOT get this from Horchow. I DID have it custom made by the manufacturer Ercole. When we got this place, we received a very generous gift from Sol & Bea that enabled me to get it wholesale. The design is Ercole, I sent them the color scheme to work with for our new home. They finished it before we moved in, but I couldn’t wait. When it arrived at Rick’s ( where we were living at the time) I cried when we uncreated it becaue it was so beautiful. Not when I saw it in a catalogue.

    I HAD NO IDEA!

ALSO —- The chairs took 3 years to find. My mom finally got them from Anthropology.
