  1. Jay of The Depp Effect says:

Looks like a misty morning, and very autumnal!

  2. agg79 says:

Nice street shot of NYC. Has an eerie, peaceful look about it. The calm before the storm?
Hope that Sandy is not as bad as they are forecasting and all you get is a little rain. Batten down the hatches and keep safe & dry.

  3. Cheryl says:

Nice perspective, Meleah. Were you shooting into the sun or fog?

  4. So far, so good. But apparently, the worst is yet to come.

  5. ladyV says:

love it. looks old and dated. well done

  6. Laughing Mom says:

Nothing quite as eerie as the haze over a city. Nice photo! Stay safe!

  7. Yay!

How’s the weather over there, Val?
It’s just starting to get nasty over here.

  8. nonamedufus says:

New York, New York. Looks like it’s from another time and space.

  9. I love NYC. So very much.
I don’t go there often enough.

  10. ladyV says:

rain and wind. nothing too bad right now. i bet my job is sorry they closed the office instead of an early dismissal. Β too late though! muhahahahahhah. Β i think you get the nasty before we do. be safe.

  11. Ron says:

OMG…being a city lover…I LOVE THIS PHOTO, Meleah!!!

    It almost looks vintage!

    Excellent photo, girl!

Hope all is well in Jersey. Here in PA, we’ve only gotten high winds and some rain, but no power outages. Supposedly, we’re getting the worst of it later today into tonight.

    You take care, my friend…..X

  12. Pat Kumicich says:

This is a fantastic photo. The grunge enhances it to well.

  13. I think everyone is regretting closing today, especially since it looks like we are going to be fucked for the rest of the week!

  14. Yeah, same here.

Supposed to be horrible later today/tonight.
And then we might be screwed for days.

  15. mikewjattoomanymornings says:

Oh, yeah! You just gave me a …. uhm, thrill. I love big cities, Meleah. The bigger the better. I love the people, the buildings, the noise and the ability to get any kind of food you want at almost any time of the day. Great photo.

  16. Ron says:

Hopefully. And I say…hopefully. We won’t lose power.

    *fingers crossed*

    Take good care…….X

  17. City’s are good like that!

  18. mike says:

Wow! I have this crazy city fetish and this is like, mega NYC density which I love. It also looks like classic 1920’s architecture too and I totally cannot get enough of Art Deco. Anytime. Anyplace. Hawt.

  19. Ziva says:

Ohh!! Such a gorgeous shot, Meleah! I am dying to go back to NYC and this is NOT helping…

  20. Laughing Mom says:

Hey! You still doing ok in the storm? Xoxo

  21. Lucy says:

Sometimes you just want to be in the best city and this photo puts you there πŸ™‚

  22. Jamie Baker says:

I’m fascinated with the photos, but I don’t know HOW people live like this.

  23. I love how this photo looks… it could be from the 40’s… very very well done!

  24. shadowrun300 says:

Wow. Awesome shot! Ironic that this topic fell on the same day your city is supposed to be hit by Sandy. I’ve been thinking about you today. Hope you all are safe and dry!

  25. HeSaidHisTelephoneNumberWas911 says:

Great photo, a very nostalgic look to it.

  26. Cheryl says:

Thought so but wanted to be sure before I said, “Wow, that fog really adds so much to the feel of this photo. It’s like stepping into a mystery.”

  27. Thank you.

    NJ
is an absolute mess. Things are really bad. We have no power, no
television, no radio, no internet, no landlines, no cell phone service,
    no texts, no emails, nothing.

    And
the roads are awful. Trees & power lines are down, blocking
    streets, no traffic lights work…ect.

I had to get out of NJ and I’m staying with my brother in PA. Driving here was REALLY scary.

I am trying to get settled & showered and then I will catch up with everyone.

  28. I’ve escaped NJ and made it to PA safely where there’s POWER and INTERNET!

  29. I’ve escaped NJ and made it to PA safely where there’s POWER and INTERNET! HOORAY!

  30. PS: I’ve escaped NJ and made it to PA safely where there’s POWER and INTERNET!

  31. Laughing Mom says:

OH!!! I am SO GLAD that you are safe! Probably nearly as glad as you are to have your internet!

The pictures of the storm on tv are breaking my heart. It sux to lose everything as so many did.

I am glad that you have found a place to be for now – hope it is not too long before you can go home!

Can I help with anything? That sounds stupid over the miles and internet, but I really mean it!

    Take Care,
    Amy

  32. Awwwww!!! You’re sooooo sweet. Thank you, Amy.

I am very lucky that I have somewhere safe to be.
And I am super lucky there’s no major damage to our house.

Not sure how long I will be here, but I am not going back to NJ until things are fixed. That’s for sure. It’s been nothing but panic attacks and stress for days!

  33. Laughing Mom says:

I’ve been through the storms that knock out everything including cell phones…it’s like living in a dream where nothing works. Then again I’ve lost everything too and that was a nightmare.

I’m glad you are okay and hope that you keep in touch through your blog at least. I may not post for a few days due to other issues than the storm, but I’ll be reading and checking on others blogs.

I’m super glad that your house will be there when you return…can’t believe how many won’t have that.

Stay calm, wash and dry your hair, eat a cheeseburger and watch some tv (just not the news!)

  34. Watching the news is utterly devastating. I can’t even imagine losing everything. I am extremely grateful that everyone I know is OKAY.

Thanks again for checking on me. You’re the best.

    XOXOXO

  35. territerri says:

This is cool! It has an old-fashioned feel to it.

  36. Was this the calm before the storm?
